Gosselin Kids Wonder If The Nanny Is Their New Mom

Gosselin Kids

Gosselin nanny Stephanie Santoro--yes, the one who claimed to have sex with Jon in the family hot tub--has given another interview to In Touch Weekly:

As their marriage unraveled, Jon and Kate Gosselin always insisted on one thing: They would make sure their kids got through it all unscathed. But that couldn't be further from reality. In an exclusive interview, the family's former nanny Stephanie Santoro tells Life & Style the children have been devastated by their parents' bitter breakup -- and the end of Jon & Kate Plus 8.

Cara, one of the couple's 9-year-old twins, "used to sit and cry to me that she didn't understand and thought it was her fault," says Stephanie. "I would always tell her, 'It's not your fault, it's just something that happened. Mommy and Daddy will tell you more.'" But Jon and Kate can't even stomach being around each other. As a result, their kids -- twins Cara and Mady, and the 5-year-old sextuplets -- have been left confused and traumatized. "Some of the younger children once asked me, 'Are you going to be our new mommy?'" Stephanie says. "They don't know better."

And the children are also coping with the loss of the Jon & Kate Plus 8 crew in the wake of Jon's unilateral decision to shut down the show. "Kate says the kids miss the crew," says Stephanie. "They grew up around them and loved interacting with the crew. I'm sure the kids are devastated."

I'm sure the children don't miss the SHOW. They miss the people who were associated with the show that were in their home since they were babies. Poor kids.

All tasty stuff. Well duh, you can't have the freak show without the freaks. Otherwise, it would just be a run-of-the-mill divorce between a self-obssessed man and woman.

If I could, I would adopt these children and let them grow up out in the country far from video cameras. They would know what being a child is supposed to be: Fun and free of stress, normal people around them who aren't trying to use them to make money!

What a train wreck this all is turning out to be - continuously. These two "parents" are a pathetic joke! He's constantly photographed living the bachelor life, partying it up. She constantly has her face on magazines and talk shows. Neither one is bothering to actually raise their kids. Only worried about make money (she) and getting laid (he). Unfortunately, there's 8 kids, so that raises the chances that several of them will turn out with all kinds of psychological problems because of this. I'm so sick of seeing her picture everywhere with that big "look at me" smile. Please!? Stop giving these two so much attention.

And won't it be wonderful when the crew is free to speak about "mommy dearest" behind the scenes and what they only imagine happened when they weren't around. They were Kate's "friends" in her mind, likewise the kids. It was their JOB and all things considered probably did keep tempers cooler and Kate in check for her continual performance. May she find herself, which is not going to happen on the path she has taken.

Exploiting your kids, is all it's been. Both parents are for themselves, and what they want. Sad to raise kids like this.

True, and insisting on having a litter of children is certainly not good for the kids who make up that litter, that decision was all about them (the parents) too. It's about as selfish a decision as someone could make. Who thinks they can care for, and attend to the needs (not just physical) of so many kids all at the same time??? Only the most narcissistic and deluded among us.

I feel sorry for the kids, but at some point, don't they need to learn that the ever-present attention of cameras and crew are NOT normal, nor should be s source of comfort, entertainment, whatever?

Who could have seen this coming? Abdicate raising your children and leave them in the hands of a television network. This makes complete sense. Who cares about the children's mental and emotion states later on? It's about the here and now and getting paid. Only in America.

"only in america"

Try looking up logical fallacies. The decision of their parents to be money grubbers has nothing to do with america. There is no country on this planet that doesn't have greedy people in it who are willing to exploit others.

Casey Johnson was raised by nannies. She should be a prime example for Kate to stop chasing stardom and stay with her kids. I know she has to make a living but she's on TV all the time and you have to leave home to fly there.

Being parents to 8 young kids is a full-time job for at least one person, plus they need others around (school friends and families). Whoever is the full-time person also needs support - from friends and family.

That's a hard thing for many people to find.

I miss the show; seeing the children interact with each other. I wish all of them the best of luck; and hope the older girls don't read the mean spirited comments on here... There ARE other reality shows, with families thriving; such as "18 kids and counting" and " Little People, Big World." I esp. enjoy seeing the second show... The Roloffs. Neither Matt nor Amy are mean to each other.. Well, neither are Jim Bob and his wife, either...

That's voyeurism in those innocent children's lives. And the innocent children had no say-so about it.
How would you like millions of people peeking in your window, watching you and your siblings grow-up, when you were an innocent child?

I think it is just wrong.
03:44 PM on 01/08/2010
Well, as we are seeing in recent episodes, filmed in 09 I believe, the Roloffs have different ideas of which direction their lives should head as their children get older and leave the nest. This past season has been almost painful for me to watch and I LOVE that family.

The best new show on TLC is Table for 12.

I don't know why people would actually think that divorce would not harm the children, it does and if you don't believe me, then ask some of your friends co-workers that still can remember the hurt from their parents divorce. I have been saying, all along that my concerns were for those precious children who did not choose to be in this world. Those babies are hurting and no one seems to care about their little feelings, and the hurt they feel & don't understand it. I don't blame that baby for crying, she does not understand what has happened to her family. I hope they can get some help for those children, because this is a sad case, that did not have to be.

Divorce is an emotional issue for children by itself. Put in bitterness between the parents on top of that and you have an emotional train wreck.

It's according to the children. Some chidlren welcome their parents parting company, and some children couldn't care one way or the other.

I am in the latter group. As long as I had my mother, I didn't care who else was around.
