thedailygreen.com:

While politicians and world leaders try to hammer out agreements on reducing carbon dioxide emissions, some are looking to other solutions in the form of geoengineering. The idea is to use technology to compensate for warming effects, and a wide diversity of strategies have been suggested, although nothing has yet been tried on a large scale.

hmmm when will you people realize is that they made up the problem of man made climate change in order to get the contracts and agreements for the geo-engineering tech and payouts.

its all a giant scam

Release the Hydrogen Economy now!
12:27 AM on 01/12/2010
I do like that tank strapped onto the back of the cow. Only if it was strapped on the back of all Senators/Congress persons/Al Gore with hoses connected to both ends of them, it would serve as an environmental benefit.

However, none of this nonsense is needed. Simply release the HYDROGEN and HEMP economies which eliminates the oil and energy cartels and the environment will then look after itself and the Sun, as it always has, will control that environment.

There were hydrogen fuel cell cars and a fuel cell powered ship at Copenhagen which were completely ignored by the corporate controlled transnational media.

The Winter Olympics upcoming in Vancouver will have hydrogen fueling stations from Vcr to Whistler and there hydrogen fuel cell powered buses driving the athlete's back and forth yielding ZERO POLLUTION in the process.

A hockey player plays for Anaheim. He was named as captain of Canada's Olympic hockey team. He will be driving his Honda FCX hydrogen fuel cell sedan in and around Vancouver during the Olympic hockey tournament as noted here: http://fuelcellsworks.com/news/2010/01/06/honda-delivers-fcx-clarity-fuel-cell-electric-vehicle-to-2010-canadian-olympic-hockey-team-captain-scott-niedermayer/ .

And still the U.S. CORPORATE MEDIA will not show a single picture of the HYDROGEN economy that is emerging in Vancouver.

I think we need to look to all the answers we can to solve the worlds pollution problems. If we are going to inhabit this planet we must take care of it.

But I also believe we need honest science, and must separate our science from radicalized political movements be they far left or far right.

Now I'm reading that Arctic Sea Ice is expanding massively....and it's undeniable. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1242011/DAVID-ROSE-The-mini-ice-age-starts-here.html

Some of the worlds best climatologists are now warning of a possible severe and long (decades) period of global cooling. It's abnormally cold, crops and people are freezing to death around the globe. I think it's time to start separating our desire for clean air from a "global warming" crises that is rapidly being disproved and disbelieved by the public. Why stop harping on "global warming"? Because we are irrevocably linking good causes with a global disaster that is apparently not happening. And when it's completely disproved....the causes will suffer. Our responsiblity to care for the planet will be damaged.

It was great while it lasted. Al Gore got rich and many progressive socialist laws were passed. But it's one quarter to midnight for "Global Warming" and the smart ones will move themselves and their green causes away from the disaster which may be headed for it's own global cooling disaster.

You should know that the scientist whose research was used in the article you posted has personally debunked it as a gross misrepresentation of his work and his beliefs.

I'm sorry. I know you really had your hopes up. Must suck to have them dashed like that. :-)

An interesting article"

The mini ice age starts here

The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, say some of the world’s most eminent climate scientists.
Their predictions – based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans – challenge some of the global warming orthodoxy’s most deeply cherished beliefs, such as the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in
summer by 2013.

According to the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado, Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007 – and even the most committed global warming activists do not dispute this.

It has long been postulated that the melting ice in the Arctic and Antarctic will upset the Gulf Stream, resulting in colder climates for the region from Florida to Northern Europe. The question now is whether this season's abnormally strong cold snap in that region is part of a larger trend, or just a seasonal anomaly.

Scientists do not dispute that the polar ice caps are likely to continue their melting because of the continuing higher polar temperatures. What effect this melting will have on global weather patterns is yet to be seen. It may seem counter intuitive that warmer temperatures at the poles would cause cooler temperatures in some areas during some parts of the year in the Earth's temperate zones, but it is not.

From the article, about CO2 scrubbers: "The bad news is that we'd need literally millions of these devices, and they don't come cheap (the prototype is expected to cost at least $200,000)".

Okay... let's do a little math. To build 1 million scrubbers at 200k a piece, it would cost us 200 billion dollars, VERY close to what we gave AIG. So what we're saying is basically AIG is more important than the well being of the entire planetary ecosystem. I'm so glad we got our priorities right!

Humans generate about 26 gigatonnes of CO2 per year. Building enough scrubbers to take that much CO2 out of the atmosphere with current technology would certainly be problematic.

Millions, not a million. Sounds more like trillions of dollars, not a few hundred billion.

Wonder how long it takes build one scrubber, custom built for Factory A? Factory B? Etc.

I'm all for eliminating greenhouse gases, but this seems impractical.

I would have appreciated a serious article about this critical issue.

Fart igniter would be the cheaper and more fun solution.
09:55 AM on 01/10/2010
I'm sure that some of the scientists working on this stuff have good intentions but I think most (whether they know it or not) are just part of the corporate machine trying to continually put off doing anything about the problem. For decades they denied it was happening. Now gradually they are shifting their arguments to "well its happening but its too late to do anything about it now" or "we'll find some incredible new technology to completely reverse it".

Do the cows really carry around a big sack all day long? That is awesome. How about just installing a solar powered igniter behind behind every cow, so that when they fart the methane gas is burned off?
That way , at night, we could turn off the lights in the barn. :)

Forget about these 5 big ideas. First the scientific world needs to repair the damage they have done to science and come clean with all their lies and fake data sets.

THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING!

"Human activity has been increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere (mostly carbon dioxide from combustion of coal, oil, and gas; plus a few other trace gases). There is no scientific debate on this point." http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/globalwarming.html

"Thus, despite claims sometimes made by some groups that there is not good evidence that Earth's climate is being affected by human activities, the scientific community is in overwhelming agreement that such evidence is clear and persuasive.” http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/short/306/5702/1686/

The "scientific community"?

You means those scientists who corrupt the peer reviewed process?

From: Phil Jones, Date: Thu Jul 8 16:30:16 2004
I can't see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and I will keep them out somehow - even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!

Or the scientists that delete data?

From: Phil Jones, 2/2/2005 09:41 AM
The two MMs have been after the CRU station data for years. If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I'll delete the file rather than send to anyone.

Please do not use the term global warming. Climate Change is the correct term. Global Warming does not explain the 11 year cooling cycle we are in, climate change does.
01:53 AM on 01/10/2010
Climate Change is not correct either. The Climate is always changing, and it always will. Now that we know scientists were cooking the books, it's time to turn our energy towards safe, reliable, and very cheap ways of producing energy. With the economy about to plunge into a sink-hole, people won't be able to afford the energy we are getting now. If you make that the argument, then I'm right there. Otherwise you are supporting the big lie, and that won't get you anywhere. At least not any more!
09:51 PM on 01/09/2010
yeah, whatever we do don't stop the COAL plants from running!

those COAL power plants are responsible for about HALF of America's Pollution.

Don't put Solar Panels on Peoples homes and Tax the 'energy' they create, no, no

Keep that Coal Burning!

How much did "Clean Coal" donate/bribe Obama?
