If this comission is anything like the 9/11 Commission and the white washing that it did on the attack in New York, then another fraud will be perpetrated on the American people. No one will be held responsible or accountable and vague assumptions will be the result. We did go from prosperity to poverty under the republicans. End of investigation.

The 9/11 commision was a insult to our common sense.

First question:

Do you need any more money at this time?

If so, can we write you a check?

(Just don't cash it 'til the first of the month.)

Granddad, Dad, and Brother served in WW I, WWII, and Nam, along with all of the brave men and women in those conflicts. There were two wicked cases of PTSD out of these events, with brother dying in 2008 after long tough years; a very hard death. For my family members, and others like them, who gave so very much to our country I am demanding justice and accountability from all of our public officials. The nation that my family members fought and suffered for is not the nation that we have been forced to become by the corporations that have inflicted their will through the use of bribed, complicit legislators.

President Obama and A.G. Holder: Step up to the obligations of your office and do the right thing!

Very well said ... bravo to you and your family.
11:34 AM on 01/10/2010
I also say Bravo and Thank You all very much.
Now is the time for all of us to honor them by fighting against the economic destruction of our country.

Aurora Mortgage is a subsidiary and they are a loan service company not a bank who has branches I have ever seen who issues loans. Just like Kraft is not responsible for the sale of cigarettes even though they are own by the same company, you can't link the two.

Again EMC is a subsidiary that SERVICES mortgages not issues them.

Aig- Credit default swaps are not sold to consumers and have nothing to do with people loosing their homes. If you knew what a CDS was you would not think it was "crap" because if you have a home and have insurance you have a very similar product.

And the fact remains GS never issued a consumer mortgage.

You have proven my point, people have no idea what they are talking about and its just a lynch mob.

I have proven what point?

EMC ISSUED mortgages and serviced them and were a Bear Sterns Mortgage holding co.

same with Lehman & Aurora.

GS never issued a mortgage...did I dispute that point?

I have no idea.........highly unlikely...I have been and still am in the finance industry and saw what Wall Street did to Main street.

AIG on behalf of the tax payer paid back Goldman Sachs 12.9 BILLION.

What a complete waste of tax payer money. Why do we need a commission? We already know what and who is responsible. And this commission does not have the power to do a da.mn thing. So unless they have the authority to sue these companies or charge them with criminal activity then this is a bunch of bull.sh.it!

Maybe it's good that we continue to air the depth of the depravity. The news media can't put the lid on it, and this kind of communication can help strengthen and broaden grass roots efforts to enact the reforms needed to prevent future abuse.

TeeLolly points out:
Just wait until the Supremes issue their decision in Citizens United v. FEC, No. 08-205. The court, and not the parties, took the unusual step of raising the question as to whether the McCain-Feingold restriction on corporate campaign expenditures is constitutional. It is anticipated that the court will overturn those restrictions, enabling corporations to basically buy our government outright ...
My reply:
This has been in the offing for some time. There was some speculation that her pro- corporate stance was a bigger reason for Sotomayor's nomination than anything else. However, we should remember that once appointed, SC judges often change or discard previous patterns of ruling.

What is the source of "it is anticipated that the court will overturn those restrictions....."?

Who is anticipating this?
12:07 AM on 01/10/2010
It' been all over the news today. The Supreme's actually believe that corporations are people, and deserve the same rights as you and I...no joke.

I hope that these "reports" are hyperbole and have no substance. I don't think SCOTUS has been polled on this, and find it difficult to believe that a majority would buy the argument

It's time to mobilize. It's time to take to the streets.

Most of all, it's time for Justice for the citizens of The United States.

Do not waver. Be brave. Be persistent.

Let's take back our country. Demand accountability. Demand indictments follow, no matter where the trail leads.

Rome fell. So can the Butchers of America; every liar, every cheat, every thief.

I'm guessing that this will happen ... but it will happen in a "knee jerk" fashion upon the occurrence of some as yet unknown but ever-increasingly likely event. Buckle up.

Just finished several articles in the Business section, CA in huge budget problems. Hawaii doesnt even have enough money for a special congressional election. The Fed says lending is still contracting,...Unemployment of men ages 25 to 54 highest since 1946. The economist and others are predicting another bubble. Jobs are no higher than 10 years ago. I predicted a year ago we would be in deep doodoo for a long time but I really didnt think it would be this bad for this long

These CEO's are friedns with most of the Senate, so how does anyone expect fair hearings when all of our politicians are as corrupt as any other country in the world?

Personally, I'd like to thank every single member of Congress for just one thing: I won't be seeing any of you on my plane in the afterlife.

Thanks a bunch.

That you're a hemorrhoid

Don't bother to let us into your heart
We're way too smart.
And can do better better better

> What's your take on the SCOTUS giving corporations the
> (unlimited) ability to buy candidates and elections?

Here's an to counteract the supreme court idea:

"We the people" are going to have to pay for their campaigns. As we can see, if we don't pay for them, big corporation are only too glad to pay for them.

That means we have to make it advantageous for politicians accept our money as opposed business money.

Here's a plan:

1. The plan is completely optional. Any politican can opt in or opt out.

2. If a politician doesn't raise money from business and packs, "We The People," will match the top opponent's fund raising dollar-for-dollar.

This way, no politician could out spend another and buy an election. Any politician who didn't choose public funding would be at a disadvantage because they would be spending all their time fund raising while the publicly-funded campaign could actually campaign.

3. If all candidates were publicly funded, each candidate from the top four parties would receive an amount equal to the top individual spending from the last election plus inflation.

Under this system, there are no limits on free speech (money); the American People just gets a seat at the table just like big business. The politicians have choice of being bought by the American People or business and everyone will know who was bought by whom.

I saw that yesterday.

Do you think it provides enough money to lure politicians away from private fund raising?

I couldn't tell if it would put politicians on an equal footing with private fund raising.

If it does, then it is great idea!

WILL THIS BE WHAT WALL STREET AND THE F1NANCIAL ARISTOCRACY DR1VES US TO?

Deep1y po1arized attitudes separating business and working class people in late 19th century Ch!cago.

The Haymarket affair/r!ot/mas_sacre took place Tuesday May 4, 1886, at Haymarket Square in Ch!cago!

It began as a rally in support of str!king w0rkers but an unknown person threw a b0mb at po1ice as the gu_nf!re resulted in the de_aths of eight p01ice officers and many civilians.

Eight anarchists were tried for murder with 4 put to death, and 1 c0mmitted su!cide in pr!son.

This is HOW the Aristocracy does things! Only Andrew Jackson Be_at the Banksters and lived to 78!

The Financial Aristocracy has been in CONTROL since R0me -200 BC and it is NOW TIME FOR A CHANGE as they are 0UT OF C0NTROL!

Imagine not bothering to show up for a meeting with the president of America, supposedly the most powerful man in the world.
