Chicago's Haitian community reached out to family, friends and loved ones in Haiti after Wednesday's magnitude 7.0 earthquake devastated the island nation.

This Chicago charity, which serves children, youth and families dealing with HIV/AIDS, recently expanded its efforts from Illinois to Haiti and Guyana. As of Friday, two of its seven employees still have not made contact, but the other five are unharmed, and the organization's headquarters in Gonaives is intact.
