Haiti Earthquake Survivor Stories Offer Hope

As the first stories of survival emerge from Haiti, there are some hopeful messages from earthquake victims connecting with friends and family.

MSNBC has collected a series of these stories, including a college student who were able to text her reassurance to parents back home, people who were pulled safely from the wreckage, and orphanages that escaped the disaster without any lives lost.

One American couple feared the worst for their two adopted children, who were living in a Haitian orphanage while the adoption paperwork was processed. They've just been assured that the two children are alive.
