A post-op Heidi Montag crowds the Obamas off the cover of People magazine and inside she dishes on the ten procedures she had done on November 20.

She had her breast implants increased to DDDs, a brow lift, a nose job revision, lipo on her stomach and thighs and a butt augmentation, among other things. She explains her unending quest for perfection:

I was made fun of when I was younger, and so I had insecurities, especially after I moved to L.A. People said I had a "Jay Leno chin"; they'd circle it on blogs and say nasty things. It bothered me. And when I watched myself on The Hills, my ears would be sticking out likle Dumbo! I just wanted to feel more confident and look in the mirror and be like, "Whoa! That's me!" I was an ugly duckling before.

I know nobody asked me, but if it did, I'd pick the left (before) as being more beautiful. All these procedures, were a waste of time, money and a very good body.

But, to each its own. It is important that she'd be happy with the results and her hubby to still like her.

As a girl relatively the same age as Heidi, coming from Orange County (Laguna Beach) and a pop music base, I can see why she so altered herself. It can be agreed that, in this crazy post, postmodern, 'me me', time, just what is 'fame' and individual appropriate is tricky. Still, asking just 'who is the real Heidi'--and will she please raise her hand and say 'I'-- is now overtly complicated. Even amidst this cyclonic force of pop culture, I do believe 'the real' (Heidi) is just what we have always and do, still, want...maybe even crave.

Heidi was a beautiful girl before these antics; she still is, after--but I think we can all agree that the work was, indeed, needless. Going about a career and her life this way can be justified by Heidi--this is all fine--but, seemingly, not by the public; perhaps even 'the industry', itself. It just screams 'attention', well, you know what comes next. Relying on other merits would have been far more worthy of our society's attention. Perhaps, even more importantly, may have saved us all from the need to comment. So let's give this issue and the girl what 'it' really needs...a break. All will heal if left to fully recover--and the scars behind the ears (and gigabytes of photos and MTV footage) will be, sadly, all that will remain of the image of what once was.
