Man Slaps Woman On Turkish TV Show (VIDEO)

We're not sure what kind of Turkish television program this is (based on the content it seems like a trashy U.S. daytime talk show, but that's just speculation), but two of the guests got very heated during their appearance. The woman tries to fling a glass of water into the man's face. He blocks it, and proceeds to rather harshly slap her in the face.

We don't speak Turkish, so if any Turkish-speaking readers out there can enlighten us as to how this conflict started, please let us know in the comments.

get real, that guys reaction was hardly violence incarnate... it was a spazzy and unfortunate response to a spazzy and unfortunate action. Also, being "on television" tends to heighten people's overreactions to invasion of their space. But I'd say that in general, when you throw liquid in someone's face you are assaulting them. Try to do it to a police officer and see what happens. It's not like they were at the pool.

Being a woman myself i thought this was kinda funny, not thats it's right . It's just not the thing we see on daytime TV here. Unless of course the man goes to jail for assaulting her.. no matter if it is your wife. Ask Charlie Sheen about that ....

On Jerry Springer the men don't even hit the women.. And that's the worse show on TV here..

If it is his wife and she stays with him after doing this on TV he will never stop and it will only escalate
into worse.... proven fact !!

This video is a few years old. The couple was on a reality show. The appearance on this show was a attempt for them to gain ratings. It was a shameful attempt to promote their own fame.

I don't think that it is very responsible journalism to put this video up on a news site without first knowing what happened. This is not breaking news, nor is it not something that should be shaping people's opinion of the country of Turkey.

You must not read much on Huffpo. It does have plenty of opinion, usually running down the left side of the page. But most of the stories are news stories gathered from a number of sources.

First she was playfully about to strike him with a pillow, he blocked her. He didn't have enough sense of humor to let her hit him with a pillow. She made a grab for a glass of water, and he reacted with a back-hand to her face. That was the casual use of force to punish her and he didn't hesitate to do it on live television.

She should not have thrown water in his face BUT he absolutely should not have hit her. In Turkey this might not cause any reaction but in most western nations this may be big news.

Turkey is a more patriarchal society than other countries such as the US, UK, France, Germany and etc. But obviously a lot more liberal than many countries in Asia, Middle East and Africa.
