TPM LiveWire:

Inhofe suffered his latest indignity at the hands of Rolling Stone, which awarded him the 7th spot on its list of the "planet's worst enemies."

Inhofe took this as a slight.

Is this man for real?

The best thing he could do with that big mouth of his is apologise to his kids and grandkids for the mess he's leaving them to clean up

"...Rolling Stone, which awarded him the 7th spot on its list of the "planet's worst enemies."

Inhofe took this as a slight. "I should have been number one," he told KFAQ radio..."

...no argument there -- I totally concur.

Global warming is real! Co2 is deadly! Quick let's all kill ourselves so that we don't expel any more earth poison...excelsior!
08:17 PM on 01/15/2010
The brainwashed liberals are really piling out of the woodwork on this one. Yet without a clue over context, or what was actually said.
A little more CO2 is actually a good thing.

You fail to grasp the scale of this issue.

But like so many defiant little ants, you will scramble for refuge and demand government help when the levies break.

Fear-mongering over the global warming hoax is really tiresome.
10:08 PM on 01/15/2010
how about a few more million tons of mercury and carcinogens for your morning coffee???? thats what the fossil fuel industry is giving to you besides co2.....
12:07 AM on 01/16/2010
The fossil fuel industry loves the global warming hoax. Who do you think would run the carbon trading market?

I like how Inhofe was completely ignored at Copenhagen. The European reporters labelled him as "ridiculous" after he spoke just a few words to them. Inhofe can live in the Stone Age if he likes, but no one wants to join him there.
08:40 PM on 01/15/2010
And yet he took down the conference, and cap and trade. Somebody was listening.

Inhofe "took down" the conference. Is that what Fox reports? No one even knew he was there. He could not get the smallest audience. The conference was intended to get emission reductions which it got and not a cap and trade system. Our legislature may institute cap and trade or it may leave it to the EPA to regulate emissions.

A vote for Brown is one step closer to people like Inhofe being chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee.

If that doesn't send a chill down Dems spines not sure what will.

TIME MAGAZINE: Another Ice Age?
"As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval. However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age." "There was no scientific consensus in the 1970s that the Earth was headed into an imminent ice age...People have long claimed that scientists in the 1970s were convinced a new ice age was imminent. But in fact, many researchers at the time were already more concerned about the long-term risks of global warming." -http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/environment/2008-02-20-global-cooling_N.htm/

Well, a 3 dedree C warmer world, of which we already have seen one degree of warmth, another is blocked by aerosols and mitigates the warming with a global cooling effect, and the third is in the pipeline due to thermal inertia. I let you consider the implications of living in such a warmer world than now.

Sorry, Senator. You have to settle for #7. So you lost out on being a cool supervillain, but I'm sure you can turn something up as a henchman or minion.

The planet doesn't have enemies. People do.

The planet has no feelings. It does not care if we live or die.
06:54 AM on 01/16/2010
That is the reality most of us ignore.
01:02 PM on 01/15/2010
Only a republican would brag about being the #1 enemy of the planet where we all have to live.

So who is he a friend of?

How the h*ll does he get anyone to vote for him???
08:43 PM on 01/15/2010
He just wanted credit for debunking the theory that human contribution to the trace gas CO2 is causing the earth to get warmer. The headline makes it seem so much more dramatic.

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople (spiritual head of the Orthodox Church), Bartholomew I, is popularly referred to as the "Green Patriarch".

He has proposed the principle that since mankind did not create the earth, humans only hold its resources and natural wonders in a custodial relationship. Therefore, anything that shows disrepect for the "creation" (.e.g., pollution, over-exploitation, etc.) actually amounts to a sin against God.

And for Mr. Imhofe's information, the Patriarchate has been around since the 1st century - founded by St. Andrew - you know, the "First-Called Apostle".
10:59 PM on 01/15/2010
Now that's a religious POV that actually make sense! It expresses an honest, respectual and most spiritual sentiment. A shame so many are rendered too tone-deaf by the shouts of their own religiosity to listen.

Sorry for the typo: respectual = respectful
