Surfers Catch Huge Waves In Hawaii (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:10 PM ET

Apparently Shane Dorian and Mark Healey are not the only ones caught on tape riding a monster wave in Hawaii last December. A commenter shared another stunning video captured around the same time. According to the description, the surfers in the footage are Laird Hamilton, Kai Lenny and Jason Polakow. Scroll down to watch the three surfers ride a cascade of beautiful waves, and don't miss our collection of big wave photos, either.

Let them go. These top guys are the ones that screwed us. Hopefully those particular kinds of skills, that is, how to skim money off financial transactions of the populace and make ungodly sums for myself, won't be needed in the financial industry of the future.

People can say what they will but big wave surfers but basketball, football, baseball players, and so many other sports to shame for some many reasons.

And on the level of nerves and balls, along with those who wrap their legs around a Brahma, these fellas are in a league of their own.

When your sport can kill you everytime you do it, on a different plane.............................................................

You got it! Yep, a league of their own...

When surfing shown in slow motion there is no more beautiful sport. Out there in the water at full speed it's just as beautiful but 100 times more intense. Always love seeing Laird at Peahi!

Some juicy storms are in the pacific and are generating all this surf. The next good surf spot will probably be in Mavericks in the Bay area or the Cortez bank off of So. Cal. Surfing is tough though I sort of miss it since my days in So Cal. The video was nice, although definitely it is not surfer music.

Love the music - very hypnotic, almost mystical - captures the magic and almost spirituality of surfing, at least that spot on Maui.

Yea, looking from a youtube video the music is hypnotic, however when you're a out there in the water with the sets coming in your adrenilin is pumping, you are in a highten state of alert, the music comes to mind is much different.

I like this one.

Difference is Shane and Mark paddled in as I understand it and did not get towed in with Jet Skis. Big difference. Jet Skis are ruining a lot of really good line ups.

You cant surf Jaws in Maui without jetskis! No beach access!
06:38 PM on 01/14/2010
Yes. The whole concept of tow in surfing is to do it when no one is attempting to paddle in. In other words, when the waves are too big to paddle into. Most tow in surfers respect that and will yield to paddle in surfers because it's more of a commitment.

Love watching huge waves. Surfing was my life until almost drowning at Todo Santos one huge day. Dont try that place at 48 years old.
