As a worried world keeps an eye on relief efforts in Haiti, many Coloradans are taking the initiative and helping in any way they can. We've highlighted a few local efforts in the slide show below. Mercy and Sharing based out of Aspen helped the poor children of Haiti long before the earthquake devastated their small island nation. The organization operates orphanages, nutrition centers, schools and health clinics in Haiti and has slowly been receiving news of employees in Haiti, and many of them are still accounted for. Those of us who can must heed the call for help in whatever way possible. AFSCME is donating an initial $25,000 to the AFL-CIO Solidarity Center's Earthquake Relief for Haitian Workers fund.
