World Vision is claiming many of these children are being fast tracked for adoption without being properly assessed. Who is protecting these innocent children from sexual abuse or trafficking?

I am deeply concerned and don't like what is happening at all. I am not alone.

One thing is for sure- it's going to take a lot of time and resources to recover from this catastrophe. This is why it is so important that we gather as much aid as possible for Haiti while this is still fresh in peoples' minds. Not only do we need to tackle this task of "rebuilding," but when I consider that the state that they lived in previous to this tragedy, I would like to think that we could take it one step further. Sadly, I'm not making money right now and I'm finding it hard to help these people who are in such great need. One thing that found that I could do, and I hope you will do the same, is to follow this link and vote on a facebook competition for a non-profit called Invisible Children. http://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/charities/598099

It takes very little effort and can make a huge difference. If they win, they are donating $100,000 to relief in Haiti. They are a reputable organisation and will be sure that the aid gets to the people who need it the most.

What's sobering is that a half million orphans in Haiti is the same number we have in the entire US. Adoption should be a priority for what remains of the Haitian government

I wonder if all these so-called "orphans" really ARE orphans.... Remember what happened with Madonna's adoption of an"orphan" from Malawi.... Can we be sure that in the haste to adopt these children, we're not compounding the agony for Haitians who've been separated from their children due to their injuries only to find out that their children have been "taken" to America (or some other country)????

If they are truly orphans, I say good for them. If they are not, hopefully they will allow the children to be reunited with their families.

you miss the point that there were a huge number BEFORE the earthquake. Now there are even more and the parents may never be found dead or alive. To image a child being adopted by mistake is really less tragic than the child starving to death or suffering mistreatment in the interim.
