Prince William of Britain has been making the most of his first official state visit, heading down to Australia and New Zealand for a variety of activities.
AP has reports from his visit to a traditional Aboriginal ceremony in Sydney on Tuesday:
The solemn strains of a didgeridoo hummed across Sydney's predominantly Aboriginal suburb of Redfern as an Aboriginal elder fanned a cloud of smoke from a pile of smouldering leaves at the 27-year-old prince, a sacred cleansing ritual. The prince then waved to the cheering crowd of around 2,000 well-wishers, before being ushered inside a community center to meet with indigenous community members.
"We're over the moon that he's come to this part of the city to spend time with us," said Lewis Kelly, from Kempsey, 260 miles (420 kilometers) north of Sydney. "I was surprised when I heard it on the grapevine that he was coming here to see the indigenous people, the real Australians."
The visit was 27-year-old William's second time down under - the first time he was just a baby visiting with his father Charles and his late mother Diana in 1983.
While his visit has brought positive reactions, earning comparisons with his mother, one aspect of his trip was attention grabbing - his tendency to mug heroically for crowds and cameras.
