Glenn Beck Scott Brown 'Dead Intern': Beck Slams Brown For 'Available' Daughters Comments (VIDEO)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 3/22/10 Updated: 5/25/11

***UPDATE*** Beck addressed the issue again on his Fox News TV show. Scroll down to the bottom for the video.

As Steve Krakauer of Mediaite points out, Glenn Beck's radio show is the Wild West compared to the relative tameness of his Fox News television program.

Beck humorously, but harshly, slammed Scott Brown, Republican winner of the race for Ted Kennedy's old Senate seat in Massachusetts, for proclaiming on national television, during his victory speech, that his two daughters were "available."

Beck launched into a long rant about how Brown had just put his daughters up for grabs on a "meat market" and how shocked he was that anyone could say something like that on national television. Then came that moment that differentiates Beck on the radio from Beck on the TV: he started comparing Brown to Gary Condit.

I want a chastity belt on this man. I want his every move watched in Washington. I don't trust this guy. This one could end with a dead intern. I'm just saying. It could end with a dead intern.

Glenn Beck does not pull punches.

I think Beck has been sniffing to much of the Vicks Menthol that bring on his tears !!
02:21 PM on 01/24/2010
Oh geezz. Brown makes an innocent comment that was directed at his daughters as much as it was the rest of us. It WAS funny, then and now. So now the left is going to embrace Beck because he's taking some shots at the man who dared take Kennedy's spot in the Senate? It was funny. It was a hoot, then and now. If this had been Obama talking about his girls in such a way, the usual suspect leftists on these boards would be raking Beck (as they usually do) over the coals for commenting in such a disapproving manner, and Obama would be praised by these same leftists for his wit, his 'charm', his humor, and of course, the wonderful relationship that he has with his daughters that he can make such a comment about them publicly, and with (ahem)...'love'....,

The comment wasn't funny, it was creepy. Offering your daughters up as available during your acceptance speech is just icky.

That said, I will never side with Beck. He's a lunatic. He represents all that is wrong with political "debate" in this country. Scream at your opponent and rant about your paranoid delusions. That's helpful for democracy.
05:20 PM on 01/25/2010
Trust me, no one on the left is embracing Beck. You, my dear, can have him, lock, stock and barrel. Dead interns and pimping daughters are things only the right can justify.

Today's weather forecast, by Glenn Beck:

Cloudy, with a chance of doom.

Stay tuned for more of "I'm just saying..."
10:50 AM on 01/24/2010
I wonder why HP did n ot find it interesting to discuss Glenn's documentary aired last Friday.
Let me fill that gap. Major assertions made were

1. German Nazi were officially called National SOCIALISTS for the reason. They were indeed SOCIALISTS. They had a distinctive left agenda in their social policies.

2. Che Guevara, Stalin and Mao were cold blooded killers and killed thousands (Che), millions (Stalin) and even tens of millions (Mao) people.

3. It is a shame that many in today's White House consider Mao as their favorite philosopher.

I could not agree more. The silence is deafening! I came here expecting to read 1,500 posts from progressive apologists....and lo and behold...nothing.

Good grief. Where to start on the ignorance here...

1. Do you not understand that there are qualitative and quantitative differences between Nazi Germany and modern, socialist Western Europe? That the Nazis had some socialist ideas, but that these were largely subsumed/disregarded in their nationalist and racist focus? Also that corporatism is a better descriptor of their economic policies as a whole than socialism?

2. Yes, we know that revolutionaries and dictators kill people. Right wing revolutionaries and dictators do it too. It is apparently all the rage with that set.

3. Utter crap. Just because someone in the WH has READ a book this go around and is able to reference it intelligently doesn't mean that they agree with it at all or in its entirety. I have read 1984, but that doesn't make me Orwellian.
06:39 PM on 01/24/2010
Thank you. I knew it would spark a discussion.

1. Yes, there is a big quantitative differences. German socialists killed about under 100,000 German citizens, while Soviet socialists had killed about ten million of Soviet citizens. German socialists had killed under 10 million of peaceful population in the area they occupied. Soviet socialists had not been exactly mother teresas as well. But Chinese socialists with their 70 million killed win the global contests hands down. The only difference is that German socialists had been building socialism for one nation and were racists. Well, it looks like due to the short format of the documentary, Glenn left out American p[progressives of the Wilson era. These American socialists rivaled their German cousins in the level of racism.

2. Find me right wing revolutionary? I do not think such guys exist. There are dictators though. Find me right wing dictator who had killed even 100,000 people in 19 - 20 centuries? I do not think you'll be able to find them.

3. Tell recently resigned WH director of communication Anita Hill that her favorite philosopher Mao is an utter crap. Her statement is on tape. And I am sure that you saw plenty of t-shorts with Che image.

I Brown were to run for President, and Beck became his biggest supporter, he can always point to this and say he was against him before he was for him.
04:52 AM on 01/23/2010
Whether Brown's remark about his Daughters being " Available " was appropriate or not, who appointed Glenn Beck as the voice of Moral Authority in this country ? Beck thinks we need his Blessing or Permission on every issue ! What Chutzpa !

Wow!, I just realized what might be the reason behind Beck's negative comments about Brown when the rest of the Conservative world is exulting. Who's today's new darling of Independents, Tea-Baggers and Republicans....is it Glenn Beck? Hmmmm? No, it's Scott Brown..who is better looking, doesn't cry, and is not bat-s**t crazy. Could Glenn be a little threatened?

Glenn Beck program today. If we will watch his documentary, we will have plenty of materials to discuss at HP.

And if you prefer less emotional and more academic format than the documentary, you can read the latest book by Jonah Goldberg (find it on Amazon).

Goldberg is a cherry picker. For instance in Liberal Fas.cism, he listed many "progressives" who initially supported the Na.zis. So far so good. But he NEGLECTED to mention the larger number of "conservatives" who supported that regime. Not academically robust, not disinterested scholarship.

Jonah Goldberg's LIBERAL FASCISM "less emotional and more academic?!?" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Perhaps if you would have writte "...if you prefer less analytical and more polemical -- with little understanding of historical context... you can read the latest book by Jonah Goldberg.

(1) Yes, we live in a SOUND-BITE SOCIETY (the title of Jeffery Scheuer’s book, which one SHOULD check out on amazon.com), but let’s look at some facts: both historically and today political movements, parties, and regimes around the world choose their names from a rather limited lexicon: liberal, popular, republican, workers’, peasants’, national, democratic, socialist, people’s/peoples’, reform(ist) and a few others. Look to the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan that is a center-right party. Only in the historic/classical sense are they “liberal,” ie., identified with a “conservative”/free-market/center-right sense of that term.

(2) Fascism only became viable in Italy when it proved useful: blackshirted thugs beat up socialists and labor organizers at the behest of factory- and landowners. Mussolini was invited into government to “tame” his SQUADRE and in alliance with center-right and conservative politicians. Nazism got its boost by capitalizing on the Reichstag Fire erroneously blamed on a Dutch communist. Both regimes were explicitly “anti-Bolshevik” (anti-socialist/communist/Marxist) and anti-internationalist. Their “socialism” was about integration into an authoritarian “national community” through one-party rule and a police-terror apparatus.

I'm hardly a Scott Brown supporter, but I thought this was a really nasty thing to say. Really uncalled for. He's smarmy, but a murderer?
09:09 AM on 01/22/2010
OH please, finally a republican who is a real guy, and not a stuffed up old geiser, he was kidding. Glenn Beck would complain about a rainbow. I am democrat but this guy deserves a chance. We have become vultures, we eat our own, it is so disgusting.

Is he referring to the Shandra Levy case? Condit was never charged, and I don't recall him ever even being a suspect (other than initially).....wasn't it determined that it was similar to another case of a missing woman.

I don't know anything about Brown......but Beck is a menace to society.

What is really weird is that the people of Mass. voted in a Republican. What is the average income of the 50 odd percent who voted for this Brown person? Remember people, if you aren't wealthy the Republicans cannot do a thing for y ou.

Beck is the one who needs to be watched and I don't mean on TV.

I am very torn on this one, I never thought I would ever agree with Beck but when I watched the speech I thought it was a very odd and creepy also.

But I also think Becky is a little jealous.

OMG. People are dense. This man was making a statement that his daughter were beautiful and he was proud of them. It may not have been an approrpriate thing, but he was making an attempt at humor. Geez if this is all you can come up with you are in big big trouble. Beck better be careful because he will lose his loyal audience. I will be the first to go.
