Pelosi

Politico:

Scott Brown's stunning upset victory in Massachusetts has reshuffled the Senate, but its immediate consequences have fallen hardest on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who now faces perhaps the defining moment of her career.

Tuesday's loss of the 60-vote Democratic Senate majority means Pelosi must shoulder the main burden of salvaging President Barack Obama's health care reform deal, even as she copes with an uprising among Democratic incumbents terrified by the far-reaching implications of the party's Massachusetts meltdown.

Nancy has to watch her back:

Cops stopped her and stand accused of facial profiling.

Why not go back to the $50 billion dollar plan Obama was pushing a year and a half ago?

Just pass the popular parts of the bill and allow an up/down vote for PO or Single Payer.

Simply perfect the bill as is with only the parts in there that a democrats blue or extreme left would have to explain why they can not in "conscience" vote yes. I would love to see them tell the nation why?

They need 51 votes to pass legislation but it runs the risk of a filibuster which is why the 60 vote majority was so important...or so they say. I say to my fellow democrats to take the good part of the bill like the clause that protect those with pre-existing conditions, or removing the caps on insurance coverage amount and other like components of the bill and force the Republicans or blue dog democrats to filibuster for five or six days arguing why they can not vote on these very good clauses of the bill. There is a strategic tactic behind this upset that can be utilized by the democrats that would expose the opponents for what they are...sheer mere obstructionist that do not have the country best interest at heart. Nothing like wall to wall drama in High definition on cable to show their unyielding bias toward the insurance company. Make them talk for five days as to why they should vote no for parts of the bill that no sane person could argue against. This would be a superior chess move that will bring back plenty of dividends.

What they should have done from the very beginning was pass the 80% or so of the bill that everyone agreed with, Pre-existing conditions, subsides, etc., and get those passed with the 60 majority. Then, they could have gone back and pass the remaining 20% of the bill, like a public option, with the budget reconciliation. Instead that wanted to stuff the entire bill with everything when this was suppose to be a start that could be built upon.

Hilarious that the republican "conservatives" call the democrats facists, but they are the ones who just sold our country to the corporations!

It is official -- we are totally and completely powerless. Thank you, Republican Supreme Court justices, for totally transforming our government into a GOVERNMENT FOR THE CORPORATIONS, OF THE CORPORATIONS AND BY THE CORPORATIONS!

This is what the republicans want -- this is what you vote for when you vote for them! Republicans want the corporations to be all powerful, with no regulations. Be careful what you wish for! The smug, arrogant people that think that being conservative means less government and more jobs. What it means is maximum profits for the corporations -- which means lower salaries or even slave labor!

Good job, conservatives! With the corporations running everything, you have essentially shifted the tax burden from the corporations and the wealthy to higher taxes for the people!

To spend an entire year on something as important as health care and to produce a pro-industry bill forcing people to be screwed by subsidized insurance monopolies has made millions of people so sick they will be throwing up for years to come.

It was never Obama's plan. It was Pelosi/Reids plan from the start.

Pelosi/Reid didn’t have the votes before the Brown election either.
They are using Brown as cover to ditch their highly upopular plan (unpopular even among ‘progressives’).

Brown's election has gotten them out of a tight spot.
