Russian Lesbians Lose Bid To Have Marriage Recognized (VIDEO)

Irina Fyet, 30, and Irina Shepitko, 32, have lost their appeal to have their same-sex marriage, which was conducted in Toronto, recognized by a Moscow court.

The pair had married in Canada last October, after a Moscow-based court refused to grant them a marriage license.

Russia does not recognize same sex marriages, and widespread homophobia has pushed many gay and lesbian couples underground.
