Nine-Year-Olds Battle In Epic Hockey Fight (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/24/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:15 PM ET

Hockey fights and brutal hits are a regular occurrence, but a group of Russian players have raised the bar for everyone. Nine-year-old Russian players.

Yes, the below fight, which resulted in a stunning 707 penalty minutes, was between two under-10 teams. The kids are just learning from the pros: earlier this month a mammoth Kontinental Hockey League brawl forced the game to end after less than four minutes of play. Scroll down to see video of the nine-year-olds going at it.

This is funny because at that age, you're wearing so much padding, you could skate headfirst into a wall and still be ok. These kids are basically wearing fat-suits to play hockey.

Little kids get frustrated and throw tantrums just like big people. Have you ever watched two tikes go after each other in soccer? What about when a little league catcher tries crowd home plate? And don't even get me started in pee-wee football. Put a couple of boys in that much padding and they will start challenging each other to punch them in the groin. They're kids. Let them have fun. Let them figure out that fighting, unlike in the movies, actually hurts. They will figure it out for themselves...just like most of us did. Sheesh

this is in russia; i dont know if kids are wearing the same amount of padding there, as parents outside american aren't as paranoid about their children being injured.

Absolutely not true, Francis. Kids can and do get severely injured playing youth hockey, some of them by sliding headfirst into those walls you mocked.

Hahaha, this is hilarious. If all youth sports were like this, I'd consider actually having kids.

White little boys are taught to "be themselves" and this is just a sign of being a man. Same situation with Black kids, all jailed and placed on front of every major blog. Drudge would have it with a siren. White America you never cease to amaze me.

No worries - As long as they are not Black kids - its all in good fun.

Kids wil be kids!

If this were black kids on a basketball court it would be an example of thuggery at an early age and gangsta rap run amock -

But since these kids seem safe and -why even show this?
09:01 PM on 01/23/2010
If they were black kids the President would be forced to make a comment on them and they would be talked about in right wing media for two weeks.
11:14 AM on 01/24/2010
Glenn & Rush would keep it going longer! I'm surprised the ,"Hockie Mom", hasn't chimed in yet! LOL
03:21 PM on 01/24/2010
And because the shoe is on the other foot so to speak, we get a week's worth of do gooder faux outrage over a harmless peewee hockey dust up half way across the world that in cold hard reality amounts to nothing.

To read some of these ridiculous comments, it would suggest that to enjoy hockey, to appreciate, or even just understand it's code of conduct, is the same as insisting in the larger world racism or media bias doesn't exist. Sorry people, that's beyond rational thinking. To be honest, defend "gangsta rap" or whatever it is you wish to defend upfront and on it's own terms. Hockey isn't for everyone, and that's just fine.

Anyone who still believes that racism doesn't exist hasn't lived in Texas. And anyone who thinks that hockey and MMA are 'sports', should have their head read.

Why compare MMA to this? There are rules and mad skills and years of training that make MMA athletes do what they do. They do not fight out of anger or hit each other with sticks. Do you dismiss all martial arts? No, don't answer- you're clueless.

You say, "Why compare MMA to this" and then extend the comparison to rules, skill, and training. The comparison is valid and that's what make them both sports.

However, Danny just might have meant that when a sport is based on and guarantees abject and horrific violence in the name of entertainment, then it goes beyond sport to become some other thing. And when the violence plays such an integral part of the event and appeals to an unattractive side of human nature, then it is natural that some people will react negatively to it. Far from being clueless, Danny just might be reacting to a nastiness that you choose to ignore.

Just Texas? Well ,that would be great! But I've lived in Seattle, Cincinnati, Allentown, Winston-Salem, and it's the same every where, racism is alive & kicking like an old karate movie!

This is why i want that guy to go through with that all white basketball league. Being PC and people hiding their racism has lulled people into believe that racism is a thing of a past Ya know, we have a black president and everything! I do wonder if it were John McCain in office, would people have expected him to fix the country in 3-12 months.
02:37 PM on 01/25/2010
There is definitely still racism all over the country. That being said, it isn't only white people being racist towards minorities.
