January is turning out to be a bad month for the NYPD, and perhaps a worse one for suspects.
Just a week after footage of two police officers beating a handcuffed suspect surfaced, now comes surveillance video showing three cops kicking and hitting Nagi Benson in a Brooklyn alley.
The video, from an incident on New Year's Day, shows the three officers striking Benson several times while others stand around and watch. Cops chased Benson and Davial Rowe into the alley after dispersing a crowd that had gathered around a fight at 5 a.m on Albany Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The New York Daily News obtained the footage.
Benson's lawyer told the News, ""The use of force must be judged by reasonableness and as you watch the tape you don't see anything that justifies punching my client in the face and kicking him as it is occurring."
Both Benson and Rowe were charged with punching 79th Precinct Officers John Balestriere and Gregory Clark.
