Baltimore Sun:

President Barack Obama plans to extend a hand to his political antagonists at a House Republican retreat today in Baltimore.

But the exchange - part of his election-year attempt to generate more bipartisanship in Washington - is unlikely to alter Republican behavior, say strategists and former members of Congress from both parties.

Imagine if health care reform had passed with a strong public option or single payer leaving small businesses to grow and hire more people ...building more things ...

even AGAINST the party of NO ...things are improving ...just not as fast as they should have ...

keep that in mind when you vote out the obstructionists in NOVEMBER ...

I am happy to see that President Obama is winning this "debate" against the Repubs. I am so glad to see him standing up these people and exposing them for their lies, especially about healthcare reform.
I gather they still do not realize that President Obama is not stupid.

Update: I checked Fox News (1:15pm) and they are not showing the question and answer sessions. Gee, I wonder why?? These members of Congress are losing like crazy.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks.

Okay, Rethugs you said he wouldn't try to cross the aisle when he campaigned. Obama and dems reached many times during the HRC talks. He's doing it again here. If he didn't do it at all then you'd still be b*tching and screaming. Obama is giving the Rethugs all the rope before the hang themselves. I hoping and praying this is a serious chess game. I also hope the dems are giving an Oscar-like performance about HCR and really have the votes to get it passed. We'll see.

I expect loads of NICETIES while the visit goes on. I am much more interested in AFTER! Will there be any change? Will Republicans work with the Democrats? Will the Democrats work with the Republicans?
Will there REALLY BE CHANGE in the way both parties POSTURE?

Now that Massachusetts is gone and Illinois is already in the republican pocket, is Obama contemplating bolting his party in favor of the real winners? Or maybe he is just getting set once again to bow down on his knees and ask the blessing of the right wing.

THERE IS THE PROBLEM in America! Another PARTISAN B.S. post. Obama should join the "winners"
WINNERS, REALLY?! Besides the Senate position in Massachusetts WHAT makes the Republicans winners???? THIS kind of partisan B.S. has GO TO END or BOTH the Democrats & Republicans will find their parties TOTALLY IRRELEVANT in America in the not to distant future!!!
The PEOPLE don't give a DAMN about all your partisan posturing! They want politicians who work for the PEOPLE and GET THINGS DONE!

He tried and failed to get a single repugnant vote.

Lesson learnt by our illustrious leader: TRY SOME MORE.

A glutton for punishment?

You can't help but wonder, is it the DC air that dumbs them down, the longer they stay there?

You saw the Jon Stewart sketch right?

'They're not going to let you get in the car'

Had something to do with the wonder years.

Also, try the new DNC Possum logo.

'You can't hurt us any more because we're already dead'.
JS really nailed it there

I've stated my position on the caliber of Obama's domestic policy advisors already. They're in over their head. Emanuel, at least on this score, does seem to have more sense than some of the others, but if Obama is going to rescue his Presidency from becoming Jimmy Carter redux, he's going to have to start making deals. Get a couple of things done, and have some Republicans at the signing ceremony. There is no other way. Otherwise, he's a true lame duck by the mid-terms, and Romney, the President of Walmart, will go waltzing into the White House on a "white" charger (if you get my drift). When that happens, all blacks, Latinos, gays, and anyone without family money will go to the back of the bus literally and figuratively. Do we really want that to happen?

I am optimist that things will turnaround after the GOP Summit because Obama will receive his new marching orders from his GOP bosses to make sure things are done correctly, i.e., the "right" way.

OBAMA is been controled and it is VERY OBVIOUS! He did say his biggest fear was having people around him he didn't know or had on his campaign. Rahm, HRC, Geithner, Volcker, Summers, Bernake, Susan Rice, Gen Jones, Sec Gates, Gen Petraeus, Gen McChrystal, and many more are all super elites that work for the Globalist cables that is controlling America. AL Gore, John Kerry and many more such as Sen Feinstein etc, are all in on it,...within both parties are the Reptilians who work everyday to deceive he human race. Reptilins are "SHAPE SHIFTERS" aliens from another dimension. Read any books by Jim Marrs or David Ickes and you will realize that Lincoln, Kennedy, Eisenhower and the founding fathers knew about these plots to our Liberty. 1913, 1929, 1933, 1947, 1963, 1965, 1968, 1981, and 2008 to present....these are years when America loose more and more control. Eisenhower, JFK, RFK, MLK all called out these secret secs that are working to enslave the America into its global net. When you see the North American Union start to take shape, it is time to depart the US or run for the hills. We must ensure NM and Nevada are taken over and AZ also. The reptiles live in the subterane levels WAKE UP!

A preview of the republican good faith bi-partisanship that we have to look forward to ...

In his State of the Union address last night, President Obama urged the Senate to adopt pay-as-you-go rules (PAYGO), which essentially stipulate that all spending increases will be offset by either cuts elsewhere or tax increases. “When the vote comes tomorrow, the Senate should restore the pay-as-you-go law that was a big reason for why we had record surpluses in the 1990s,” Obama said.

Today, the Senate followed through, and considering all of the deficit fearmongering that has been going on in Congress, you’d think that it would have passed by a fairly wide margin.

But no. Instead, the rules passed on a party line vote of 60-40.

Are you too dim too understand that its the bottom line that matters? Many that support this otherwise will not vote for anything that the president supports for political reasons, unless it were in danger of not passing.

To quote you, "the rules passed". Quit b i t ching already.

Obviously YOU are so dim that you cannot see hypocrisy on full display as republicans scream about spending and deficits THEN PROCEED TO VOTE EN MASSE AGAINST IT. This shows they don't care about anything but standing against whatever this president is for!

HOW'S 'THAT' FOR A BOTTOM LINE!

They will not give him a takeover of the syste. They will give him specific reforms

If he agrees to crossing state lines for purchases and tort reform they will give him most of what he wants.
