Barbara Walters Delivers 'This Week' Highest Ratings Of The Season

Barbara Walters' guest-hosting gig delivered for "This Week."

The ABC Sunday morning program saw its highest total viewer delivery of the season, averaging 3.070 million total viewers (930,000 A25-54). That wasn't enough to beat NBC's "Meet the Press," which averaged 3.890 million total viewers (1.180 million A25-54) for its best ratings of the season as well. CBS' "Face the Nation" came in third with 2.890 million total viewers (780,000 A25-54) and FOX News Sunday averaged 1.140 million total viewers (440,000 A25-54) on its FOX broadcast.

Walters interviewed Massachusetts Senator-Elect Scott Brown and hosted a roundtable including Arianna Huffington and Fox News chief Roger Ailes along with Paul Krugman and George Will. The show grew 12% in total viewers and 8% in the A25-54 demographic over the week before.

Washington Post critic Tom Shales praised Walters' performance on the show:

Barbara Walters -- so long considered Sawyer's nemesis and vice versa -- had such a good time Sunday morning as host of "This Week" that the gig should be hers for keeps, if she wants it, which she probably doesn't.

"This Week" has not yet named a permanent replacement for George Stephanopoulos, who left the program to anchor "Good Morning America."
