The nominees for the 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards are in, and the best designers of the silver screen and the tube will be honored on February 25, 2010 (scroll down to see the full roundup of nominees)--but in the meantime, we'd like to invent our own category based on the CDG's list: Best Costume Design of the Year. Take a look our top twelve favorite costumed characters and tell us which designer the envelope should go to...and which will have to blink back the tears.

#1 Ladies Detective Agency - Jo Katsaras This is the most under appreciate series on televison. Fans of all colors, ages, genders and nationalities are begging for a second season, which HBO is pronmptly ignoring. I know now that it is up to HBO according to Producer Tim Bricknell, the fans on the web site are begging for a second season. If Jo wins, maybe a miracle will happen.

Mad Men hands down.

Mad Men. Because they're setting new standards, and whomever is shoehorning Ms. Hendricks into her getups is doing a tremendous job. Both on screen and off. For example, here's video from the Golden Globes: http://dappered.com/2010/01/christina-hendricks-golden-globe-cleavage-video/
In all seriousness, she's gorgeous, but not your typical stick thin actress. Which is terrific.
