When Perky Cups coffee shop opened last year in the Denver area, the waitresses' skimpy clothing garnered the business more than its share of PR. The shop, which features 'bikini baristas' is now in the news again, this time for allegedly bilking its scantily clad waitresses out of thousands of dollars in pay.
A group of the coffee shop's 'bikini baristas' told KDVR in Denver that Perky Cups owner Jason Bernal was skimping out on paying them for their work.
"My checking account, personally, ended up being on hold for two months because of his bounced check," former employee Brittany Schneider told KDVR. The baristas claim that at least ten women have been cheated out of money by Bernal, who--when interviewed in November--refered to himself as CBI, or 'Chief Bikini Inspector.'
