Interview Magazine Shows Off iPad Capabilities (VIDEO)

Interview Ipad

Interview magazine is celebrating its 40th anniversary Tuesday night in New York, and in celebrating its past will take a look into the future by unveiling its capabilities on the Apple iPad.

Interview, which was launched by Andy Warhol 40 years ago, will introduce several issues on iPad when the device launches next month. The iPad version, seen below, will be previewed at Tuesday's anniversary party and hints at magazines' capabilities on the iPad: photography and text mesh seamlessly with audio and video interviews.

"When Andy Warhol founded Interview four decades ago, he did so with an ethos that
embraced the new," the magazine said in an announcement. "As with his art, Warhol re-wrote the rulebook with Interview, creating an innovative, intelligent, sophisticated, cutting-edge magazine that was culturally impactful, pushed the boundaries of the medium, and reinvented what a magazine could be. So it's entirely fitting that Interview is once again at the forefront of reinventing the magazine experience for Apple's iPad, combining the benefits of the digital age with the familiar advantages of Guttenberg's printing press to deliver a groundbreaking, knock-out reader experience. One could call Interview magazine on the iPad 'an affordable Warhol screenprint.'"

Interview will introduce its 40th anniversary issue, featuring Kristen Stewart on the cover, as well as its December/January 2010 (Penelope Cruz), February 2010 (Jay-Z) and March 2010 (fashion) issues, all "reconfigured, redesigned, and re-imagined for Apple's iPad."

Interview's anniversary event will take place at the newly opened Good Units space in New York's Hudson Hotel.

Why is it that you bitter gizmo gadflies have to spew so much negativity? Just because YOU don't want an iPad?

Well, I DO.

I want one. My mother wants one. My friends all want one. Even my techiest tech pals all want one. I forgot-- remind me: How does this hurt you again? What is it you're afraid of? And why is it that you're making such an effort to have your "critical voice" heard?

It's a GORGEOUS product. I can't wait!

I know three things about iMagazines:

-They'll cost nearly the same amount, despite not using paper.

-Every other "page" will still be an advertisement

My guess is magazines on the ipad will look like web pages - you know... text and pictures.

I'm starting to think that the tagline for this device should be "it's magazine shaped!"

Remember, you heard it here first. 3.7 million units will be sold Q2 of '10.
And that will be regardless of what we, the blogging bloggers, think about the contraption.

part of the issue is the iPad is for a certain niche...

anyone who has a desktop, and iphone/smartphone, and notebook/netbook may not need one.

duplication of functions.

however, anyone who does not yet have a computer is an easy mark for an iPad.
80% of the population fits this category!
the very young, old and students are sufficient to give hug e sales.

20-something male geek/nerds with an opinion are not the target market!

iPad, similar to iPhone and macbook/iMac are for people who want a user experience and not a technical night mare(windows and linux!)..sure it copsts more

so do BMW mercedes and renault alfa romeo...the well designed and functional end of the market is well maintained by people who value the experience and the slightly different quality of function
=no viruses!! trojans or malware-so long as you do not run flash
no flash for the mac/iphone/and now ipad is a benefit not a disadvantage

THE IPAD IS GOING TO BE SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY, WHY WOULD YOU WANT A BIG ITOUCH FOR, THATS RIDICULOUS, AND WHO EVER BUYS IT MUST HAVE SO MUCH MONEY TO WANNA WASTE IT ON THAT, WHEN YOU CAN HAVE A POCKET SIZE AT HOME, IF NOT THEN GO BUY A LAP TOP AND HAVE THE SAME FEATURES. BETCHA WARRANTY ON IT IS GOING TO BE SO EXPENSIVE.. URGGHHHH .. I LOVE MY ITOUCH BUT MAKING IT BIGGER IS JUST ASKING FOR ATTENTION. =D

LOL WHO CARES!!

Sales are FLAT and there is no interest in this flop. They must be paying a FORTUNE for these Advertorials.

Media hype won't help this thing. Not ONE Apple person I know wants one or plans to buy one

That is all
10:35 PM on 02/09/2010
Sales are flat...? What are you referring to? It hasn't even gone on sale yet.

No interest? BS.

BTW, I know lots of real people that are planning on buying one or at least checking it out and maybe waiting for version 2. I will buy one - I just haven't decided which model to get.

That is all.

why are you so bitter? the ipad isnt even on sale.

They can do better than that.

Tons of things could be embedded - maps and locations, kmls, business cards, brochures;etc.

Who cares about mutlitasking in a reader?

And Flash su_cks. I'll take html5 over it. Sick and tired of constantly doing upgrade downloads on Flash every month!

Why do you need USB??? Has Wifi and Blue-tooth and syncs with all your files. You have a Iphone???
I'm sure Apple will add a location for misl formatted files like PDFs so you can upload many types of files and text for Ibook reader, Pages, Keynote, and Numbers.
