Iphone Att

thenextweb.com:

According to some excessively well paid bloggers (read: analysts) at Barclays Capital, Apple will probably choose to extend the iPhone exclusivity agreement with AT&T for this coming fourth generation of the popular handset.

The reasoning behind this is that the data plan for the iPad will be through AT&T, which is taken to mean that Apple is continuing its relationship with AT&T.

There goes the rise and fall of Apple 4G. Sure go with the A (T) otal (T)hug Network with the creative billing practices (customer fleecings) and lousy network. They couldn't keep 3G up so 4G is a total stretch. How they can keep getting away with the advertising fluff I don't know. AT&T uses totally false and misleading advertising.

Maybe I'm just a stick in the mud, but NoveltyPhone9000 just doesn't do it for me. I made out pretty well with the old standard 10-digit keypad, you picked up the reciever, you dialed your number, made your call, then you hung up, and it worked out pretty well. In the earlier times a mobile radiotelephone had much in common with its' wire-bound predecessors, there was still a reciever, and a cord, and the whole thing weighed about 5 pounds. Battery power came from video camcorder batteries, and the range wasn't all that great. Then, the next generation came along, it was all one unit, still kind of bulky, still had those pushbuttons. Today's telephone plays games, music, costs a bundle, lets you browse the web, and is the Ultimate Tech Accessory. But, is it really better? The object of having a mobile phone is so that you can make a phone call, or take a phone call, without being tied to the wall. But, if you're now inseparably tied to this electronic device, what has been gained, honestly? 3G? 4G? G whiz, what's the monthly bill just for having one of these stupid things? While we're on the subject of AT&T, why can't they go lower on their monthly rates? What are they paying out in salaries and stock dividends, there?

Terrible news. Even here in Los Angeles AT&T has become almost completely unusable. If I had stock in them, I'd sell it all, ASAP.

iPhones are awesome little machines but this news is its demise in my household, my company, my network of friends, etc. Everyone I know is struggling to use the phone but ATT is just too far gone now.

I'm lucky.

Where I live ATT is the best signal. I get 5 bars indoors pretty much anywhere.

When I have visited other major cities I have been surprised by that poor coverage, but it works for me and I'm still use the first iPhone.

Same. Where I live and work, AT&T has the best service hands down. I tried Verizon, they couldn't even come close.

I take these rumors with a big grain of salt. That said, IF it's true, Apple has lost me as an Iphone user. I love my iphone, but have hated AT&T since day one. I'll wait til June to see if it's true. If it is still tethered to AT&T and there is no Verizon alternative for the Iphone, then I'm retiring my current iphone to the status of an itouch and going with one the HTC smartphones (probably the Eris). Hello Android, by by itunes apps.

I can't believe Apple could be so stupid, but I can believe that they could be so arrogant to believe that people will put up with AT&T's crappy inferior service for the priviledge of using the device. Apple better wake up. Android apps are catching up fast.

I love the Apple products I own (iMac, mac book pro, Ipod) but given that they stuck with AT&T for the iPad, it isn't entirely surprising they might stay there with the iPhone. "Arrogant"? Well, sure- that's part of the Apple Package.

Let us pray:
"Please God please let the Apple iPhone stay at AT&T exclusively"
"We at Verizon don't want them on our network giving us dropped calls and such"
I wished for a baby brother last year"
"I didn't get a baby brother"
"Please, let me have this."

"Amen"

ATT... AGAIN? Good luck with that. No more Iphone for me. I just can't wait to laugh at the upcoming catastrophic news about whatever network they will try to set up.

I was under the impression that a Verizon iPad model was in the works. Assuming that's true, it pretty much renders the entire basis of this article's "analysis" moot.

ok if that's the case then they should at least continue to sell the 3G and open it up to other carriers, but just make the 4G exclusive to AT&T. everybody wins.

Will NEVER EVER get anything Apple that forces me to join ATT. Was on Maui for work. Colleague could not check her flight on the I Phone (ATT). I gave her my Blackberry (Verizon) to do it.
