We here at HuffPost Comedy love "Sesame Street," but we love it even more when a comedian is on doing something completely ridiculous/adorable. Ricky Gervais sings, Paul Rudd dances, and we laugh!

Wasn't Steve Martin ever on the show?

Too bad you didn't go back farther; Tom Lehrer once contributed a schtik to Sesame Street; also Bill Cosby. And very funny they were. You'd have to go back to the seventies -- maybe even the sixties.

Well actually Sesame Street was only in the 60's for about two months so I doubt any great clips could be found. It first aired on November 10, 1969. But I do agree that there has to be more great appearances from way back.

Ricky Gervais and Elmo are hilarious together but the on-set interview with them was much funnier.

Jesse Jackson on Sesame Street?

He's probably trying to call out (ie shakedown) Big Bird & Mr. Looper because there isn't enough 'diversity' on the block.

One that was unintentionally hilarious was the one with Jesse Jackson in the 70's with a big afro, and long necklace on with a medallion, making the kids recite, "I am, somebody......"

What nostalgia to see John Candy as Yosh Shmenge. (BTW, he's not at all sounding like Borat.) Gotta bone up on your pre-90's comedy if you're gonna write descriptions of same.

My thoughts exactly, Cynth. John had been doing that voice and that character since his SCTV days.
It was one of my favorite bits of that show, The Shmenge Brothers!
Also I think the best part of the first Home Alone was when the parents had to hitch a ride in the back of the Shmenge Brother's van with the band and their instruments! Priceless!

The very same Sesame Sesame Street that Newt Gingrich and the gang wanted to eliminate back in the "Contract On America" era not so long ago.
