Evan Bayh's Attacking GOP Challenger Dan Coats

Senate Coats

Politico:

In the week since Dan Coats announced he was preparing to challenge Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh, Democrats have launched a withering, no-holds-barred assault on the former Republican senator, throwing him off balance and raising questions about whether his prospective candidacy has suffered lasting damage.

The oppo research mill began cranking up within hours of word last week that he was readying a campaign for his former Senate seat in Indiana. First came a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee statement referring to him as a "federally registered lobbyist whose client lists include banks, private equity firms, and defense contractors."

Neither Coates nor Bayh will receive a vote from this "Bright Blue Spot in a Really Red State". Unemployment to the shills!!!!!!!!!

Dan Coats - sending our jobs to India, and our dollars to Yemen.

This may be a gross exaggeration, but, hey, if Bayh had been in bed with Indian IT firms, the GOP would do it.

Wow, my second house is a mountain tent that fits into my backpack. I wonder how many Hoosiers have a second home down around Hilton Head! I will say that hoosiers are good people, I lived next door to Indiana on Ohio side of the line. They're a little too conservative and baptist for me, but, all in all good people. It would be nice if they, like Ohio could overcome the old farm vote and get a little more progressive.

Byah has plenty of money (at the moment) in his warchest.

If he wants some from DEMS, then he needs to actually back some of the DEM proposals rather that foot-drag.

Were there any Democratic challengers to Bayh? This guy needs to go.

Coats is a Lobbyist for India he's as responsible for the jobs Indiana has lost as anyone.

I agree, I'm an In. democrat and would like nothing better than see Bayh gone-but I sure don't want banking lobbyist Coates

As I've said over and over we Democrats haven't even begun to fight/campaign. This November Republicans wiil LOSE not gain seats in Congress. As Al Franken said of Republicans five years ago, they have nothing (to offer the American people).

As opposed to democrats? Neither party does anything for us. If you think democrats are actually out for anyone but themselves, you're in for a rude awakening.

Name one thing that the Republicans have proposed that will help anyone other than big business.

Political Limbo: how far to the right will Evan Bayh go in 2010 for a General? i agree with the Mike Pence comment....why not now? i mean Pence is a total beltway insider who loves the DC beauty contest; he's a radio hack and had nowhere near the community presence that MacIntosh or Sharp had....BUT man, Pence is on fire now [rivals.com ranked him #5]

Wow! Dems attack? Who would have thought? I'll have to put this down in my diary as a "blue letter" day, I thought Dems were all gutless. There may be some hope for this party after all, thank goodness.

We are Hoosiers, not Indianans. If you knew Indiana you would know that it is a very conservative state, except for Lake and St. Joseph's and Marion Counties. No progressive or liberal Democratic candidate would stand a chance to get elected here. Don't forget, we are the state of Mike Pence and Dan Burton.

well it has been like this for too long coz hoosiers are suffering like others. byah was supposed to give hoosiers health care but he backstabbed his own constituents just like republicans would do too! mike pence and burton are phoney buttholes who can't never get their facts straight on any policies. maybe its time for voters to stop sitting at home and get these bumholes out so constituents can get help from their elected leaders not followers!

Indianans? Residents of the state are called Hoosiers as pointed out by the earlier reply. Are you a naturalized citizen or just a coastal yuppie who's never been to the Midwest? As far as politics, Indiana is one of the Reddest states, despite going blue in 08. Indiana is essentially a southern state just north of the Ohio river. Phil Sharp was the man

I'm a Hoosier and some still think of themselves as southerners-you know this is where the Klan started and some of them are proud of it

I'm 68 and moved here from Iowa when I was 2 and I'm still an outsider

More Democratic attack dogs, less Democratic Shih-Tzus.

Every time they even THINK of running for office, let's call these Republican creeps out for what they are.....corporate wh*o*res.
12:45 PM on 02/10/2010
Coats? Couldn't we do a little better? Even a tiny bit better?

That said, I cannot wait to say BYE BYE Bayh. You phony "moderate". Such a liar. You vote with Reid and Durbin all of the time and then run back to Indiana and tell everyone that you are a "moderate" that your a "conservative" Democrat.

Your a joke and soon you will be getting a lobbyist job. You will probably get more money but you won't be called "Senator" anymore.
01:01 PM on 02/10/2010
Ha, and from this perspective, you already have a republican there with Evan Bayh. The way he talks, he obviously has no use for the Democratic party.

Sorry, but he will continue to be called "Senator" for the rest of his life, like retired judges are still called "judge". Go back under your bridge.
01:08 PM on 02/10/2010
Good point. Just like Obama will be called a loser for the rest of his life.
