Angelina Jolie Doesn't Rule Out Haiti Adoption (VIDEO)

First Posted: 04/14/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:30 PM ET

Angelina Jolie is back from a three-day trip to Haiti, where she visited an SOS Villages camp for orphans among other good deeds.

While she was there Angelina spoke via satellite with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, who asked if she wanted to adopt a Haitian child.

"I'm always open to children around the world. We're that kind of a family; Brad and I talk about that," she said. "But that's not what we're focusing on at this time, by any means. We're not here for that."

The HuffPo Entertainment section is saturated with attention starved celebrities. Am actually grateful that a media magnet like Ms Jolie draws the readers attention to real people in real dire situations and need.

Because their kids are so gorgeous? Please! Their kids look like anyone else's kids except for the family diversity. I admire Jolie and Pitt, but their children are not these little super star model types ... you must be thinking of Suri. Or are you saying that the children available for adoption in Haiti are unattractive?
11:52 AM on 02/14/2010
I think she means well, but is in need of therapy. You can't save the world. You can only save your little corner of it. She is responsible for raising six children. She needs to focus on that, and that is a great life legacy to leave six well-reared children behind to impact the world. If she wanted to save the world, she shouldn't have had six kids. Like I said, I think she means well, but is misguided and needs to work out some issues in therapy. Her obsession with this is not healthy and she needs to figure this out for herself and her family.

Because she is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador there is something wrong with her? Psssst ... don't let the U.N. know that ... I think they are completely unaware ...

of your obvious bigoted stance.

Let's see, Brad & Angie make a ton of money making movies. We pay a ton of money to go see those movies. Or if you're like me I wait til them come out on cable, which, costs money.

Brad & Angie take some of their money and donate it to causes they believe in. Brad and Angie spend some of their money buying property around the world for their enjoyment. After all it is their money. For shame.

Brad & Angie attain A-list celebrity status because of the movies they've made and we the public just loves all of those photos and juicy gossip.

Brad & Angie adopt several kids and provide them with a stable home and a life we could only dream of. And that life is a damn site better than what they would've had. Oh, to be a prop!

Now I see why so many people hate Brad & Angie they're jealous because Brad and Angie parlayed their looks and talent into something most of us will never attain. So therefore they are gratuitous, elitist Hollywood a$$holes who are self centered and only care about themselves.

Got it...Man that's pathetic.

No thank you! I've worked with several A-Listers and some are buttheads but most are good people. I have my favorites as I'm sure you do.

Something the haters don't realize is the hard work that goes into making a film.16 - 18 hr days. In the rain, snow & sleet with no heat on the set and no way to get out of the wind. I've work everything from lead to extra and on some indie films even crew.

Its hardwork and when a good project comes to fruition, I for one am happy to see someone give back!

The list of Americas top givers

http://www.slate.com/id/2243495/?GT1=38001
But donors on the 2009 Slate 60 came through with $4.2 billion in new commitments (pledges and gifts) to philanthropy.

Please note Brangelina inspite of all their PR isn't even on this list.
Stanley and Fiona Druckenmiller, who lead this year's Slate 60, embody the term Great Giver. They are known for being reluctant to attract attention and praise for their giving, but their leadership stands as a strong model for others. They give big: gifts that are large, focused, and institution-changing. Their sustained support of Geoff Canada's Harlem Children's Zone Project since the 1990s is estimated to be more than $100 million.

And they don't tip the media off about their 100 million donation.

Sure puts Brad and her tipped off 500K in the shade

In terms of the humanitarian work...not so very different at all.
I suspect Hepburn would be very impressed by what AJ has accomplished.

I've lived in both Haiti and Cambodia...Jolie is truly committed to the work she does in helping children and raising awareness.
If you want to mock her, go ahead.
But there is kharma...

What a lying-ass headline. She absolutely did rule it out and she and Brad don't even qualify to adopt in Haiti anyway where you can't adopt out-of-country if you have other children. Any country can waive their guiltiness if they wish but HuffPo is just being heir usual AJ-hating jerks again.
01:15 AM on 02/13/2010
I'm glad that she at least uses this type of publicity. I give her credit for bringing awareness to Haiti. I hope we continue to try to help them. I respect an artist who does positive things, and even though I'm not a fan of her work, I do applaud her charity work. It's better than the celebrities who use bad behavior to get attention. I think Angelina has good intentions. Even if it's PR, atleast it's positive.

Why can't she adopt a good American Orphan?

Are American Children without parents not good enough?

Doe she have to go to a foreign country to help a child?

Or she is trying to prove she is helping the world??

There aren't any American orphans.

Did Sharon Stone adopt orphans? Or Edie Falco? Stephen Spielberg? Rosie O'Donnell? Or Sheryl Crowe?

I think this is typical tall poppy sydrome. Jolie is smart and canny about her image but I personally don't get the impression that all those adoptions are about portraying an image. I think she is genuinely interested in children, no matter their race or religion, and being rich and famous allows her to use it to bring the plight of these children to the world's attention. What the frig is wrong with that people?

I like both Brad and Angelina....they dont feel they have to live up to other peoples ecpectations and they shouldn't. Some do not like their body of acting work but it is the fact that they give back to the community that is important. Measureing how much they give back is pathetic. There are many that do not give at all. As for adopting foreign children, I believe that they may have had less of a chance in life than American children. This is the richest country in the world and the government and society provides well for orphans in comparison to 3rd world countries.

She's jealous of the Octomom. There can't be a lady out there looking like her with more kids to love than her. Seriously, celebrities collecting children from third world countries is a bit tiresome.

This is a serious woman who takes philanthropy to heart. Nothing else really matters than the fact that she is interested in improving the lives of people who need it now... That must be applauded, and praised. Everything else she does (her film career notwithstanding ) is her own biz although highly amusing to the rest of us...
07:30 PM on 02/12/2010
So many people cannot stand this woman, her morals, her motives, her ego.

So how can Jolie's standing in front of a cause actually be a good thing?

She would help better off going into hiding and let the regular charities have their limelight back.

And yet for 9 years now major reputable international charities court Angie. They brief her and have their staff meet with her in the field and they put her appeals on their websites. I wonder why that would be?

Also, Angie has started 3 major child-centered charities through her own individual efforts. She also funds 12 schools in Africa and the only millennium project outside of Africa that encompasses 6,000 villagers, 3 schools, 2 health care clinics, a soy milk factory, countless roads, two orphanages and a massive wildlife conservation project that employs over 70 people.

Angie's morals are just A-OK. Yours orianna? Not so much!!!
07:13 AM on 02/13/2010
And all this wouldn't happen without her?

Best PR she can get and not a costly one either.
Heck, it's how I would spend my millions in tax write offs, wouldn't you?
