The Colorado Independent:

DENVER- As Denver Mayor and Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper waffles on climate change, the U.S. Geological Society is reporting that Montana's Glacier National Park will be glacier-less in a decade. Scientists had previously estimated that the park's signature glacier-grade ice fields would last until 2030.

"The 2020 date is new. Dan Fagre, glacier-melting expert [for the USGS], took a close look at his monitoring data last year and determined that the glaciers are melting faster than he had anticipated," Steve Thompson, senior program manager at the National Park Conservation Association's Glacier Field Office, told the Colorado Independent.

Global-warming alarmists: GO READ the East Anglia? emails instead of spewing the drivel you've been told to repeat by your handlers.

The debate is FAR from over!

Carbon levels APPEAR to LAG temperatures - that means it is NOT a cause!! Gee let's IGNORE facts, shall we?

There is ZERO scientific reason to regulate carbon. It's a power-grab, period!!!

My Dad and I hiked in Glacier National Park many years ago. We pitched our tent at the base of one of those ancient glaciers. It was near a small lake that was milky white from the glacial runoff. There were fish swimming in the lake that had evolved enormous eyeballs to be able to see in the murky water.

This is one of my fondest memories from my childhood. It makes me sad to think that in another decade we'll have to rename this park "Glacier Memorial National Park."

Further proof it is all a scam...scientists now admit there has been NO warming since 1995.

In the scientific community one article is never considered proof, especially a newspaper article .... When you find some info in a real sciece journal give us a call ..... Save the gotcha stuff for politics ......

Jones merely acknowledges that if you slice history into a 15-year segment it falls just short of a high degree of statistical significance. That doesn't mean that it isn't global warming nor is there a good reason to only look at those 15 years.

The authors of that article are playing on your ignorance.

Dr. Phil Jones has been playing on your ignorance and guillibility.

Where I live in central Ohio the terrain in made up of rolling hills of buried sand and gravel, this is leftover debris from the giant glaciers that carved out the Great Lakes in the Ice Age. I wonder how much the earth has warmed since then, and was it caused by human actions?

The Great Lakes were formed by geological subsidence as well as glacial action. Central Ohio is below the terminal moraine (the leading edge of the glacier) but was cut by glacial-run off. There are natural cycles of warming and cooling attributable to things like the wobble in the earths rotation. However, we can't do anything about that so we concentrate on the human causes. Human-made warming is slightly greater than the natural warming trend and its prime component is atmospheric CO2 created by burning fossil fuels.

If the human forcing is greater than the natural forcing, how come we had declining global temperatures between 2002 and 2009?

And how do you know that CO2 created by fossil fuels is the culprit, when the releases are smaller by a factor of ten than the uncertainty around CO2 content in the atmosphere, and also is known to have a logarithmic effect (decreaig with increasing concentration), AND overlap with water vapor, AND when we don't know the real forcings associated with the hydrologic cycle?

Just to make sure I don't get bombarded with notions that there was no cooling in the first decade of the 21st century, here is Dr. Phil Jones on the matter:

Actually central Ohio was in the terminal moraine region about 14,000 years ago. As far as geological subsidence, this is a highly unlikely theory since the Great Lakes are roughly in the middle the North American plate with the closest fault lines being thousands of miles away away. Northern Canada is riddled with smaller lakes with trenches that are deeper than any of the Great Lakes. But the terrain there is sparsely covered rock that was stripped bare by the same glaciers.

You mean rubbish? And as it's the USGS, no.
