Prince Andrew

Prince Andrew has allegedly hit a police officer with his car, the AP reports:

British police are investigating an accident in which Prince Andrew allegedly struck a police officer with his car while driving into Buckingham Palace.

Media reports said Queen Elizabeth II's second son hit the officer as he was driving his four-by-four through the palace gates.

The palace confirmed Friday there had been "a minor incident" involving the prince and said it was a matter for the police.

The Metropolitan Police say an officer had been hit by a vehicle on Constitution Hill, outside the palace, and sustained minor arm injuries.

The force says it is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

According to The Sun newspaper, the police officer had been trying to move Japanese tourists.

"He did what he is paid to do and rushed to protect them but was hit himself. Andrew didn't slow down and carried on as though nothing had happened," an unnamed police source said.

The incident is not Prince Andrew's first run in with the law. The Prince had been called arrogant after being caught speeding near Heathrow Airport when he rushed to catch a flight to Scotland for The Open golf championship.

His excuse? "I'm in a hurry."

The Queen is exempt from speeding tickets, her kids, apparently not:
"The Princess Royal faced civil court charges in March 2001, when she pleaded guilty to driving at 93 mph on a dual carriageway, while on her way to Hartpury College in Gloucestershire. She was fined £400 by Cheltenham Magistrate's Court, and had five points added to her driving licence.[9] The following year, she was convicted of a second offence under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, after she pleaded guilty to the charge that her dog, Dotty, attacked two boys while she and Laurence were taking the dog for a walk in Windsor Great Park. The Princess was fined £500 by Berkshire Magistrates' Court and ordered to give Dotty more training.[10]

I guess its ok, it doesn't matter he is royal so he can do what ever he wants. Maybe Parliament ( and the Funkadelic) will do something since they have "all the power."

This reminds me of when George Harrison of the Beatles got arrested for attempting to ram his car into a policeman about nine times (I forget the exact number, but he kept putting the car into reverse to attempt a more successful hit, repeatedly).

George said he had felt very "frustrated" and after following Swamis around for a year or more, who could blame him.

Besides, it isn't right to speak evil of the dead, and besides, I liked George. I thought he was underrated.

I'm not sure which I find more obnoxious: the British Royal Family or the Twitter window Huff -Po has added to every page.

As we all remember when sports person Randy Moss hit a cop with his car, he got off quite readily.

Maybe if we all become the offspring of royalty or learn how to run around a 100 yard field with a cheap ball we can get away with such criminal activity too.

Well, that's what happens when you try to reply without enough sleep and neglecting to run a search to be sure of what you're talking about.

Regardless, I was wrong. I got it stuck in my head that Prince Charle's sons were Andrew & Harry. William is Charle's other son. Andrew, the subject of this article, is Charle's brother.

Sorry about my replies that contradicted what others had written. If it confused you, you can well imagine how much more confused I was at the time to write it.

Obviously, I'm not British, or I would have known better.

Rank has its privileges? I mean the country does support the "royal" family. It ought to mean something special if you are actually a royal prince, right? Might be time for the British to give up that nonsense. They tend to get rather uppity it appears.

At least the quote from the Palace says "it is a matter for the police"...now..IF Andrew was DUI...I don't think THAT will ever come out...he may just be a very very bad driver...arrogant..absolutely...but he's a friggin Prince...arrogance is inbred..is it not (at least to some degree?)... I'm glad the policeman was not seriously hurt..as a 4 x 4..man..could have squashed several people...
