I remember when US representatives handing out Fulbright fellowships to Palestinian students were shot at and forced to leave by Hamas hotheads. Jihad uber alles.

It is a known fact, intimidating journalists is a full time job of the Palestinians. It has been going on for years against western and Arab journalists. One of the reasons the reporting from the Middle East is so biased against Israel is that the Palestinians advise "we cannot guarantee your safety" to any reporter who files reports not supporting their dictatorship.

Oh bruuuuther! Who is it that prevented journalists from covering the Gaza Invasion up close and the Jenin and Nablus massacre???

Israel is renowned for it's antagonism and hostility with journalists and my list below proves it!

Jenin massacre? Even the UN stated there was no massacre in Jenin.

You should check out Road to Jenin.

No Jenin massacre, skia, as I've told you before. Keep lying though, and destroy what's left of your credibility.

Ski this article is not about Israel, USA, China, Cuba, Canada etc

As usual you are off point -

The WEAKEST "defense" is - someone else doing it .

DOES THAT MAKE IT RIGHT ??????????????????

I know HP can always depend on you to write your obligatory 20-30-40 postings BUT do try to be on point.

It's very appropriate, since it suggests a staggering double-standard in your arguments. You see for one journalist detained by Hamas Israel has unjustly detained, injured and killed at least a dozen.
06:00 AM on 02/16/2010
This woman has no life.....she spends 24/7 doing this.
07:00 PM on 02/15/2010
I disagree with unlawful detention whether Hamas does it or the US does it (or anyone else).

But I don't immediately assume that, because it's Hamas, they have no cause. And I also don't assume that, just because the US detains a journalist, they must have had a good reason. I like to take a wait-and-see approach.

HAMAS = the strongest opposition group to the peace process. Believes in the establishment of an Islamic theocracy over all the territory of the land of Israel, "from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River".

Fauk HAMAS and the HAMAS supporters ;-)

Funny how the Arab supporters cannot refute your factual comment!

06:04 AM on 02/16/2010
British leftists are the biggest supporters of Hamas.....hope the reporter didn't write for the Guardian, probably a Daily Man man.
01:21 PM on 02/15/2010
Maybe Hamas can trade him for the UK official who was fired for making anti-Israel comments ( see your other blog on the World page about that!) and at least have a like-minded bloke in custody!!
06:06 AM on 02/16/2010
You mean the Israeli organ retrieval team in Haiti story?
12:40 PM on 02/15/2010
Hamas arresting people who do not confirm their lies? In what sense this is a surprise. They've been doing it all along. The difference is this guy is British.
01:22 PM on 02/15/2010
Actually Oleg Alan Johnson was released aftr 114 days by Hamas in July 2007 - so there is a precedent re British journalists/documentary makers.
The IDF however have a record of shooting British journalist/documentary makers - James Miller.
01:27 PM on 02/15/2010
Something happening ONCE is clearly NOT a "record"of doing that thing!! Hamas DOES have a record of throwing Fatah members off of the roofs of buildings.Get the difference...it happened MORE than once!!
11:46 AM on 02/15/2010
1001 Arabian Days and Nights and never a dull moment. Here is a version I read, not yet posted here. Journalist was called up by Hamas to testify against an *Israel collaborateur* but instead started to testify to the innocence of that person. Oh, boy, off script! Not allowed. In the slammer you go. It could have een worse, such as throat cut! I am starting to compose music to go with all the scripts we are being served up. So many stories, so little time, and still ...no Palesttine!! Plenty of material, though, for some good movies! Can we find an orchestra?

The number one cover identity for CIA and other spies... journalist . Just look at how easy it is for journalists to get into the West Bank and the tender treatment given them by the IDF for the shining example of handling journalists

Dude. It's OK to criticize Hamas when they do something wrong. You don't have to automatically make up elaborate conspiracy theories implicating Israel just so what Hamas does seems like the right thing to do.
01:00 PM on 02/15/2010
Agree with this. Thabit and phute must be Hamas lovers, as both shot down people who are calling the situation like it is. Pathetic.
01:24 PM on 02/15/2010
Why do you always change the subject matter when the thread is unflattering to the Arabs/Palestinians???

Any second now the Palsbara crowd are going to come streaming in to tell us how Hamas is justified and/or Israel is really to blame for it.
11:43 AM on 02/15/2010
The difference between Hasbara and "Palsbara?" is tha Hasbara sends rss feed all over the world to mobilize propaganda volunteers of any breaking story concerning Israel or Palestine to mobilize their troops to dominate the blog or poll with the GIYUS software . but most "Palsbara" find the storie thru a desire to see justice done to the Palestinians

And here we have chief Palsbara propagandist: Thabit.

"No no! I'm not a propagandist! It's just that Palestinians are never wrong and Israel is never right!"

Were you motivated by a desire for "justice" when you made these comments?

I'm reminded of the American reporter who was arrested in Communist Czechoslovakia many years ago and charged with, and I quote, "the crime of practicing journalism".
01:41 AM on 02/16/2010
Does that mean Israel shoots itself in the foot when the IDF shoots British reporters in the head?
