Donald Trump Points To Snow Storms, Calls For Al Gore To Be Stripped Of Nobel Prize

First Posted: 04/17/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:30 PM ET

Donald Trump wants the Nobel Committee to strip former Vice President Al Gore of his Nobel Peace Prize.

The New York Post reports that the billionaire told a country club crowd of 500 that recent snow storms on the east coast prove that Gore is wrong about global warming:

"With the coldest winter ever recorded, with snow setting record levels up and down the coast, the Nobel committee should take the Nobel Prize back from Al Gore."

And

"Gore wants us to clean up our factories... when China and other countries couldn't care less... China, Japan and India are laughing at America's stupidity."

"The Donald" did not include Vancouver's unseasonably warm temperatures and lack of snow in his weather observations.

After last week's record-breaking storms, many scientists went to great lengths to explain that the storms do not disprove climate change. Some even believe that climate change contributed to the storms.

Last Friday, another billionaire, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, went after climate change deniers and explained that climate change and CO2 emissions pose a huge threat to people everywhere.

In 2009, Forbes ranked Bill Gates as the richest American with a net worth of $50 billion. Donald Trump ranked 158 on the same list, with a significantly smaller net worth of $2 billion.

Okay, here I go into the catfight. Climate is world wide and years long, weather is local and short term. What increasing temperatures in the atmosphere creates is extreme movement of air masses. They rise higher, move faster etc, because they have more energy. So in that chaotic movement generally there is an increase in the violence in the weather. Extremes become more extreme. So in a location whose weather is traditionally snowy in winter you might get lots more snow, lots more wind because the overall climate is changing. And you might get none. It also means that the climate change moves the agricultural zones northward, thus inducing birds and critters to be found further north than their normal range. Plants might make it to the garden sooner, but the old patterns of frosts and freezes are going to change, too, so we have to be careful not to assume a hot summer means a warm winter. In my Master Gardener class we learn that some areas that were one zone are becoming almost the next zone up as we speak! People who watch their local weather and make pronouncements about the global climate are sad examples of the quality of education in this country.

I'm getting sick to my stomach for agreeing with Trump on this rare occasion. But other than that, that loudmouth has no redeeming value.

As GreenGirl88 notes: it's about EXTREME weather. Toronto has had the warmest winter this year with practically NO snow. Zip. Vancouver Olympics has had to truck in snow. People are sunning themselves as if it were summer in that city. And then we have the unusually huge winter storms batter the east coast, both in the States and Canada. Ya, that's not unusual or extreme.

Wow!! The Donald, a legend in his own mind!

Global warming is about extreme weather, and climate shifts and changes, like how it's raining in Vancouver and 60 degrees Fahrenheit, disappearing snow in the mountains, while it's snowing in Texas and Florida---and THAT's not weird and unusual????

The warming seas, the melting glaciers, on land as well as at sea, the bleaching from warming waters of coral reefs, home and food source for much of our sea life, many of which are starving and dying off, does all this and more not count because of three snow storms IN THE ALMIGHTY US, because you can't grasp the complex issue (not black and white, or if you prefer, left and right as some lemmings believe) of Global Warming, which is an all too simplistic tag for Climate Change???

I'll spell it out for you in five easy steps: Excessive CO2 chokes the atmosphere and depletes ozone, trapping the sun's heat in our atmosphere, causing the seas to warm up>this creates excessive precipitation>the earth also warms, and normal weather patterns shift, and it's cold where it is usually warm, and warm where it is usually cold>this creates snow where rain should be and rain where snow should be>and idiots like The Donald use only one aspect of all this to further their own agendas. TA-DA!!

Ignorance. Pure, simple ignorance. Ignorance is not defined as not knowing something - it is defined as not knowing that you don't know something. "The Donald" sure fits the description!

I wouldn't trade a good education for any amount of money in the world!

Do we only produce stupid billionaires like Trump and attract stupid billionaires like Murdoch anymore? Why can't we produce exciting, intelligent billionaires like Richard Branson? What's happened to us?

Just more proof that righties have no understanding that there is a world outside of our borders. They have no argument. Zero. Zip.

Instead of hearing Donald Trump talk incorrectly about global warming I'd much rather hear him explain why he is paying Rod Blagojevich to star in his lame apprentice program.

Gordon Brown says you’re a double denier!

“Those people who have become global warming deniers and those people who have become climate change deniers are against the grain of all the evidence that has been assembled that global warming and climate change are indeed challenges that the world must meet and that can only be met together.

I'm so glad to see that even the Prime Minister of England is confused about what term to use. It won’t be long until we are global warming/global cooling/climate change/global constant temperature deniers. Then they’ll have us covered.

Perhaps the Donald was watching CSPAN...

Greatest Hits compendium of quotes from 2005 through 2008 from Senate Democrats Barbara Boxer, Robert Byrd, Amy Klobuchar, and Jay Inslee explaining that the lack of snow was predicted by the AGW climate models and represented an emergency requiring immediate action by the federal government:

Actually, not. Gore went to Harvard. The Donald went to Wharton.

A now forgotten comedian said this at a Donald Trump roast:

"The best way to become a billionaire is to have a billionaire father. If Donald Trump wasn't born into the Trump family, the only way he would ever get into this kind of event is to get a job as a waiter."

Hence the aformentioned comedian is now unknown, whereas the Don continues as a legend..................

Or was he talking about politicians and Al Gore? Best way to become a Senator is to have a Senator father?
