Nicole Richie Engaged To Joel Madden

NEW YORK — Nicole Richie is engaged to longtime boyfriend Joel Madden.

The 28-year-old Richie confirmed the engagement Monday during a taping of CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman." The show will air Friday at 11:35 p.m. EST.

Letterman asked, "You're not married yet, is that correct?" Richie replied, "We're not married."

Letterman then asked if she and Madden planned to get married. Richie said, "We actually recently are engaged, yes."

The 30-year-old Madden fronts the band Good Charlotte.

The couple have a 2-year-old daughter, Harlow Winter Kate, and a 5-month-old son, Sparrow Midnight.

Richie has a new clothing line, Winter Kate, and shoe and accessories line, House of Harlow. She and Paris Hilton costarred on TV's "The Simple Life."

I agree she seems to have matured a lot since having children....but I have to admit, I kind of liked her when she was on The Simple Life reality show lol, there was something about her that was endearing. Paris Hilton on the other hand....no.

Likelihood of a marriage between these two people lasting "until death do we part" (unless one of them dies early) is slim to none. But all you celebrity worshipers and believers in fairy tales keep sending good wishes because it never hurts to put good will out into the universe even if it is being wasted on a lost cause.

They may or they may not. However, seeing as you don't have a crystal ball what harm is for people to wish them well. These days celebrities or the average American couple with trials and tribulations probably have about the same odds of staying together.

Congrats! I like both of them...I do believe marriage is more than a piece of paper. If it was just a piece of paper then more people would do it. For me it's a life time commitment. Glad to have that paper.

And why is this news important to us? Is she an entertainer appearing in the entertainment section of HP? Does she sing, dance, act???? Her only claim to fame is as Paris' sidekick and Lionel's daughter. If this type of digital print is important then the US is really on the road to hell.
