Japan has a tendency to take normal things (game shows, toys, etc) and cover them in crazy. It's what they do. Japan's ridiculousness has been well-documented here at HuffPost Comedy, and if there's something we've learned, it's that there's no escaping it. As you'll see by this collection crazy Japanese ads, even American celebrities can get sucked into the Japanese vortex of insanity.

The actors made big $ for these ads. The contracts stipulated the ads would NEVER be shown on TV in the USA. But nothing was mentioned about the internet - hahahahahaha!!!

I love when huffpo puts a different spin on an old story due to a slow news day. At least it's not another look at some celebs new boobs, or look who is wearing a see through dress. So lame. They must have hired someone with an inquiring mind a while back.

These were done in the 80's and mid 90's. The Screen Actors Guild would allow celebrities to make commercials overseas. They kept their cool persona here, while making a buck in Japan.

That all changed in the early 2000's. The Guild doesn'tt allow them to do non union work overseas anymore. That's why you seen DeNiro, DeGeneres, and a bunch of other celebrities doing commercials here now.

God, you're just not even trying anymore are you? These are mostly decades-old ads that most people have seen a thousand times over. I understand HuffPo's desire to cover some of the fluffier side of news, but this is just pathetic linkbait. You can do better.
