Hannah Teter, Olympic Snowboarder, Gives Back Through Maple Syrup Organization

In an interview with NBC Nightly News, Olympic snowboarder, 2006 gold medal winner and 2010 silver medal winner Hannah Teter says she "knew [she] was hooked up" from a young age -- meaning she was aware of the opportunities she had that other children didn't.

Growing up in Vermont, she used to make maple syrup with her parents, and this became the inspiration for her charitable initiative, Hannah's Gold. Through the sale of homemade maple syrup, wristbands and other products, Hannah's Gold raises money to "support a huge clean water project...and buy plots of land for homeless AIDS victims...in Kirindon, Kenya." Teter also donates all of her contest winnings to this cause, in partnership with World Vision.

You can contribute to this initiative by purchasing products through Hannah's Gold, or by buying Hannah Teter's Maple Blondie, an ice cream flavor by Ben & Jerry's. Part of the sales of this flavor will go to Hannah's Gold.
