Lara Stone Can't Stand Working With Female Photographers

Lara

Model Lara Stone may look good for the cameras--as seen in Love Magazine (link NSFW!)--but behind-the-scenes, she hates being shot by female photographers. According to WWD, she told Marc Jacobs in the upcoming issue of Interview magazine:

"Personally, I don't like working with female photographers because they seem to never be able to make up their minds about what they want to do -- with the exception of Inez [van Lamsweerde] because she always knows what she's doing. But so many times it's like, 'Oh, let's try this' and 'Let's try that' and 'Let's do this' and 'Let's do that.' It's like, 'For f--k's sake, woman!'"

Lara also talked about her past in rehab.

Women communicate in a different way from men with "commands" usually posed as questions or suggestions. Men simply say "do this." This is a generality, of course, and doesn't apply to everyone, but it's true for most. Sounds like this model just likes to be told what to do without any reference to her own thoughts or ideas. Maybe she doesn't have any thoughts or ideas...or doesn't understand that a successful modeling session results in more than a simple photo.

That's what I was thinking.

I am stunned by this models insulting and narrow vision. Being a photographer myself, I have found that women have always responded to me in a very positive way and unveil themselves in an intimate, more genuine way. I work in tandem with a very gifted male photographer and our images of the same woman always surprise us- and delight us with their multi-dimensional views of the same person. I have never heard of such prejudice before and it speaks volumes about this silly girl.

The subject's reception to the photographer always shines through the eyes. With her attitude, her photos probably DO proof harsh for women photographers.

just another overpaid model, whining about something completely unimportant. a photographer's
skill or vision has nothing to do with their gender.

The only difference I've ever noticed is that the women photographers give their orders as questions, and the men don't. She doesn't hate women photographers. She hates "femtalk."

Although the poster who noted that Ms. Stone also misses the sexual vibe from a male photographer is probably right, too.

WOMEN ARE NOT GOING TO BE HITTING ON HER; THEY, FOR THE MOST PART WOULD BE MOST HONEST ABOUT THE WAY SHE LOOKS. WHEREAS, THE HETEROSEXUAL MALES WOULD BE MESMERIZED BY HER SEXUALLY. THE GAY MEN WOULD BE TOO SUPPORTIVE OF HER, FOR THE MOST PART. I AM SPEAKING, IN GENERAL TERMS.

'It's like, 'For f--k's sake, woman!' Try running a brush through that hair of yours.

I have had a hard time working with women photographers myself. In general, photographers ,men&women can be real p&icks. They think they are gods or something. They tend to treat assistants, stylists, and anybody else in the room as sub human. But then Art Directors treat them like crap so there you have it, crap rolls down hill. But there are a few really good women photographers that are easy to work with. The better the photographer is, the better they treat people.

wm1066, your comment is as fool hardly as the above article. I have always treated people with the greatest respect on any shoot. I know through my professional associations many female photographers who can run circles around most men in the field. The lack of grace in your comment says it all....
