The republicans refused to sit at the table; now all they get are the crumbs on the floor. Gridlocking until the next elections has never been a successful strategy for either party. But still they try...

What the heck? I am trying to find the article where they were tracking how many senators signed the letter to Reid asking for a public option and reconcilliation. It is nowhere to be found.
I wanted to see if they had included two signatures that just signed TODAY 2/22/2010.
Tim Johnston and Jean Shaheen have both signed! WHOOHOO

Finally some balls! Lets get it done. We voted for you to make things happen... screw bipartisanship when it only means "Do it all the GOP way or we vote NO." Time to work for America and we support you on this!

Real Brother here.

The Republicans continue telling the lie that they will have to pay for the health care of Blacks and other minorities who don't deserve health care or who are too lazy to work or pay for it themselves.

This argument falls flat because to benefit from the Bill you have to pay into the system similar to how it works for Medicare and Medicaid. Also too those who recieve Govt. subsidies are the most likely to be young and healthy meaning they are more likely to be subsidizing older wealthier White Supreamcists and Racists then the other way around.

And finally, the notion and idea that only poor Blacks and Minorities get sick is ridiculous.

America has historically postured itself as a country of free spirits with "can-do" attitude....yet, now, when it comes to helping each other achieve what is best for the good of the whole, we are as defeatist as anyone.

It's become practically a national past time to irrationally fear change and just as irrationally allow such fears to be stoked by TV pitchmen like Beck, Limbaugh, et al., who no more have the interests of the American people at heart than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. America is suddenly myopic....looking only at what is currently at its disposal and rarely at what is best for everyone down the line....even when what's best is as obvious as the hands in front of their faces. We just keep driving that auto till the engine falls out petrified of change at the risk of...(((gasp))) change !

I heard this very subject (irrational resistance to change) discussed on the radio recently and the commentator actually suggested that if we remain "frozen" from such fear, unable to progress we will, eventually, risk 2nd word status....with 3rd world not far behind. Nothing could be more emblematic of a nation-crippling fear than the fear that continues to manifest itself directed at health care reform in America. Being fearful of such progress makes less sense than being fearful of the sun falling from the sky

It's as if we want to perilously go down the tubes f*king ourselves along the way...

The teabaggers and their founding fathers talk wants to bring us back to the horse and buggy days, while the republicans want the middle class to live in the gutter. What our founding fathers said long ago, was good for those horse and buggy days, but not the 21st century. Their words are not gospel or written in stone. The only way to make progress is to move forward and not backwards. So many other countries already have universal healthcare and we need to catch up. The rightwing will argue that other countries aren't happy with their healthcare and that is just a lie and more scare tactics from the rightwing.

Senator Reid,
tell the wavering Senators that
with a clear 70% of the American people wanting a strong Public option to pass...70%...stop worrying about the 30% who don't.

Passing a Bill that 70% of the public wants IS a bi-partisan accomplishment...and it's called Representative Democracy.
Senators are supposed to be REPRESENTING the PEOPLE. The PEOPLE are speaking. 70% of the AMERICAN people are speaking. 70% of the American people have been speaking for over a year.
They don't want the Bill that has already passed in the Senate. They WANT a Public "Option"

not a mandate, an OPTION, an affordable choice!

This is a FISCAL issue, A Public Option will SAVE $$. You know it, most of the people know it.
It will bring competition to the Private Ins. monopolies.
Both of those things ARE in reality Conservative in principle! (or what USED to be conservative in principle)
Most importantly...it is also the compassionate humane thing to do! American citizens are suffering and even dying because they can NOT afford health Insurance Senators!

I repeat...American citizens are DYING because they can not afford to go to get medical attention because they can not afford the price gouging Private Insurance Premiums in the United States of America!

customer: ummm, why is there a 30% surcharge on my banking account?

teller: well, we have taken after the insurance companies and have decided to charge whatever we can possibly get away with.

customer: I'm not gonna stand for this. I'd like to close my account and withdrawal my money, right now!

teller: I would love to do that sir, but I see you once had an overdraft and as such we are retroactively canceling your account. Those funds are no longer available to you. Thank-you and have a nice day.

Encourage your Senators to sign on to the Public Option letter. Ried and Obama have already signaled support if enough sign on. Lets get this done right (or left)!!

Come on y'all, what's wrong with 40% rate increases in a time of deep recession, yet record profit for insurance companies?

You think one insurance executive can live on less than $25 million a year? Geesh!
