St. Petersburg Times:

In the latest sign of turbulence for Charlie Crist's wounded U.S. Senate bid, key staffers are starting to leave the campaign.

Political director Pablo Diaz, one of the first two staff members hired for the Senate campaign, is departing at the end of the month for "a new opportunity." Sean Doughtie, a well-regarded new media consultant who had worked with Crist for years, stopped working for the campaign at the end of January.

Another repug punished for trying to follow his conscience and a moral compass pointing at something other than "What's in it for me?" Figures. One rightie poster said Crist has no chance because he angered too many Florida businessmen. Yeah, that's the only group that matters, and the rest of the poor dupes who vote repug think that what the wealthiest 5% have is going to rub off on them somehow- maybe by osmosis. Just change the the Grand in GOP to Greedy already.

If you were from Florida, you'd realize just how much of a bust Crist has been.

Crist really has no chance in this race. He angered too many people with amendment one, which turned out to be a scourge for too many public programs (schools and public safety were hit very hard), while only saving the average Florida homeowner a few hundred dollars a year. He refused to tackle the real problem of homeowners insurance in this state.

Come with us, Charlie! Time to switch sides and run away, away to Candy Mountain!

I guess they didn't want to be on the side of crist.

The political environment is changing so quick and I find it hard to understand why a state that in 2008 voted for a Democrat for president now is overwhelmingly supporting a right wing senate candidate over a moderate republican and a moderate democrat. This guy Rubio(R) is ahead of Meek (D) by 28 points. The same thing in other states, like Iowa, where Grassley (R) is ahead of all potential (D)challengers by 28+ points, and these are candidates who are very vocal about their opposition to the agenda of the president these states voted for.

Maybe Prospect Energy's twin nuke units that have been "delayed" for 20 months but ratepayers are still footing this bill thru Construction work in progress (CWIP) thanks to Charlie's support of nuke power is starting to have an effect on Charlies popularity.

If Floridians decide to ditch Crist over Rubio; then they deserve to stay in the trouble that they're in. It's a shameful thing the Republicans are doing to him; he (Crist) should switch parties...after all it's still too early to give up on the Democrats. Here's a man that put the needs of the citizens over political pomposity.

I would hope they were not stupid enough to vote in the "crazed teabagger"...I think the Dems saw Crist as a bigger threat as he could sway the middle of the road folks. Crist was not afraid to stand up and gladly accept any stimulus money he could get for his state.

If Christ does switch to (D), would he be able to pull it off?
06:01 AM on 02/25/2010
Well, I'm quite sure that if CHRIST switched to Democrat *, he could pull it off [Man, what CAN'T that guy do ? ! He's just FABULOUS !, isn't he ? : )], but Crist ?

Definitely not !, Mauricio. : )

Give the Messiah a 50.5 % chance of bringing home a win, there, while you'll probably only be able to give Marco Rubio a 49.5 % chance to win that primary [Hey, he's got all the tools !, but he's so young, and J.C. "may" actually edge him out, this time, on [mystical] experience alone. : ) ]

* Yeah, but like Jesus would ever so much as give the time of day, to any of those nasty, pompous, unnspeakably arrogant, "crusading atheist" progs ? ! He'd DEFINITELY be a Republican, all the way !, so that's why he'd have to face Rubio in the primary. : )

It’s too early to call. We have 290 peices of legislature that's sitting in the Senate that is currently being filibusted by the Republicans. They (Republicans) are only passing what they’ve been “shamed†into passing. Not to mention the inside party plays that are taking place between both parties. Don't for get...we do have some Democrats that are woves in sheep clothing that are working with Republicans.

It's still too early to call for defeat. Crist will eventually be better off maintaining his stance. I think that he would make a godd Democrat if he switches parties. :)

If I could afford it I would go help him campaign. Florida though is still a blight for me since 2000.

Yep, should come to the Dems.
I wrote him and encouraged him to stay on the side of history and there would indeed be a place for him in service to his country again.
To live with the limited mind set of not solving problems, he really does not belong attaching himself to them.
The facts will show party of no, to not get big and see the boat all in, is not SHOWING country first. The Motto they had for their last election will go down in the history books as the biggest 180 in the modern era.
Obama said change, and that is exactly what we are getting.
Obama wanted transparency, we ARE see how our govt works.

That's right, he decided to chose his constituents over the special interests and is going to pay the price in your party. Good! Drive all of the centrists out of your party. Gotta ditch your new wunderkind, Sen. Scott Brown next.

Well, but only if it's the REAL Christ, this time, Scentedflower !

The Dems already got stuck with ONE totally false messiah !, and now they're still stuck with him, futzing around confusedly in the White house, for another 2 and a half years, so that Dem party certainly can't afford to have THAT happen again, anytime soon ! : )
