Puppet Cleavage Banned From Colorado Springs Bus Stops

Puppet Cleavage

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Puppet cleavage has been ruled out for advertising posters in Colorado Springs bus shelters.

Lamar Advertising rejected posters for a touring production of the Broadway show "Avenue Q" because they show the cleavage of a fuzzy pink puppet.

Lamar account executive Jeff Moore says the company takes a conservative approach in Colorado Springs. The city is known for its political conservatism, and some conservative Christian groups have headquarters in the city.

The poster has been replaced by one showing the face of another puppet.

"Avenue Q" is a Tony-winning musical about twentysomething New Yorkers, both human and puppets, searching for life and love.

Colorado's own talibanland! I have lived in Colorado off and on my entire life and always avoided COLO SPRNGS since the huge evangelical take-over in the late 80s. It's an island of stupidity in a gorgeous state.

While I think the reaction to this by the Springs is rather silly, hearing all the tolerance and acceprtance here makes me want to put a poster of a clubbed baby seal puppet on that same bus stop to see how you react...

Oh, FFGS. This is reminiscent of the Gay Teletubbies.

What the heck is wrong with some people?!

Next thing you know pet owners will be required to equip their pet cats and dogs with "mudd flaps."

Yeah...I'm sure it was puppet cleavage that pushed Rev Ted over the edge.

Remember John Ashcroft covering up The Majesty of Law and The Spirit of Justice because they offended his Puritan sensibilities?

Sure you remember -- it was just before he assaulted our musical sensibilities!

Lighten up, Puritans. They're inanimate objects.

After moving here we realized what kind of nut house this city is. The morons in thie town are an embarassment indeed. But do know that there are sane minded people here and we keep trying to put up the good fight, but it is hard...really really hard! The area is so beautiful, and there truly are some very nice people...but unfortunately it is the ugly ones that keep us in the spotlight.

I kind of feel like one of the 300 Spartans at times...

You got some seriously ill people in Springs, especially if they get turned on by a puppet.

LMAO at the lunacy of this decision.

Doesn't Colorado Springs have more important things to worry about?

Discrimination against Fictional-Americans is at an all-time high. I know, for I have seen some of my co-workers have to deal with this (fortunately, I am immune).

One has to ask if the objection at this prurient company was to cleavage, which presumably 50.3% of the townspeople possess themselves, or to said cleavage belonging to a {gasp} Person of Fiction.

One has to consider the latter as a very real possibility, given that the population in Colorado Springs is almost 100% non-fictional. Furthermore, according to my research, Lamar Advertising has never once employed a Fictional-American.

I'm normally apolitical. Your little struggles are droll and uninteresting. But when you start attacking my friends and co-workers, it becomes necessary for me to speak up. As good a time as any to point out that the U.S. Constitution, supposedly the most politically enlightened document on the planet, contains no assurances of safety for individuals who aren't real.

Next thing, they will pass an ordinance on how to arrange the pillows on your bed.
Not so close ,and don't plump them up.

ah, always appreciate that Conservative "less-government", "pro-business" approach! EXCEPT when a bus-stop ad offends some Christian. then they suddenly decide it's OK for some government intervention....

too sad they don't see the contradiction in their behavior and views. too bad for us all.

Some scientists should do experiments to identify what part of the brain causes these people to go beyond disagreeing with something and compelling them to try to take action.

well, i live here in sf and on the liberal-end of the scale, the situation is the same. you MUST have your animal neutered (having their reproductive organs removed surgically), but having even an aggressive cat declawed - illegal.

buying weed at a smoke shop is legal, selling cigarettes at the local Walgreens is illegal.

it's that old "i'm in the majority" impulse and the classic American lust for using the force of law against your neighbors. am i incorrect - but don't we have the largest prison population in the world?

LOL. Classic.

See, that's how it starts. First a little puppet cleavage, next thing you know you're tapping some guy's foot in a public toilet!
