Blimpie Lawsuit
Blimpie Sued For Allegedly Skimping On Meat In Super Stacked" Subs

Daily RFT:

Did that pimply teenager working behind the counter skimp on the roast beef when you asked for extra meat on your sandwich? That's grounds for a lawsuit, at least in Madison County.

I thought they were being sued by the Blimpies anti-defamation league.

It seems the lawsuit has some merit, since people have done random tests on this, and also compared the nutritional information on the Blimpie site and found that there's no way the doubles could have double with the specs given, unless Blimpie's intended design on the double meat subs is to remove almost all the "non-meat" items on the sub.

What's typical in these low-level class-action suits is that if the plaintiffs prevail, there will be a public notice of how they can redeem their just compensation--probably a coupon for a free sandwich if they write to an address or fill out a form on a website. The "damages" suffered by consumers in these cases is probably 50 cents or a dollar per sandwich.

Meanwhile, the defendant will also be liable for legal fees of the plaintiff's lawyers in the class action suit, and will collect a few hundred thousand dollars for their work.

Class action suits are marvelous for large groups of less wealthy plaintiffs who have suffered real damages, against corporations with deep pockets and large legal teams. But this kind of law suit is a terrible abuse of the system.
