Frigid Winter in Florida
Some parts of Florida saw average temperatures so low that this January and February were among the 10 coldest on record, according to the National Weather Service. "Anecdotally, from talking to some real long timers, as well as people who watch the weather, this has been the most extended cold in maybe 60 years," said Terry McElroy, spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture. There's more bad news, Brown said: Because of the continued cold weather — 38-degree temperatures were predicted Friday in some central Florida growing areas — the current crop of fruit isn't as far along as everyone had hoped. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35728221/ns/business-consumer_news/

The global-average lower tropospheric temperature anomaly rose to +0.72 deg. C in January 2010 on the UAH satellite measure. This is the warmest January in the 32-year satellite-based data record.

The global-average warmth is approaching the warmth reached during the 1997-98 El Nino, which peaked in February of 1998. 1998 on most measures was the hottest year on record.

The entire U.S. is 4% of the surface area of the planet. Florida is a small fraction of that. You can't cherry pick weather for such a statistically meaningless example and infer anything intelligent about climate change.

I love environmental tourists who fly from New York to the Southern tip of South America, where they board a ship with 500 other environmetally sensitive people, to observe the pristine ecosystem of the Antarctic. .

Interesting read. The things that struck we the most was that Jones is not good at speaking to laymen and MPs no very little about the actual practice of science. They held Jones to a non-existent standard of how they imagined it should be rather than acceptable practice. For example, Jones honestly replied that no one had asked for his data or exact methods. However, that is very common. In this case, his methods are the same that many others also use and he does not need to provide computer code. Secondly, the data are available, just not all from CRU. One does not hand over everything for review because the check is best if it is independent. Using the original authors same data and programs will merely reproduce the same results.

Our drought in California is finally over yet when I look back through the last five decades I notice they occur with increasing frequency and the summers last longer, often through early December. We know our climate's changed. It's been obvious since the 1980s.

Better change to a digital thermostat.
California, where they don't clear out the undergrowth, and complain about the rogue fires.
Require 20% renewable energy by 2020, but environmentalists block transmission line right-of-ways and deny leases for the solar collector fields.

What evidence do you have that "environmentalists", whoever they are block transmission line right-of-ways. And if true that just means some in the environmental movement are as foolish as the deniers.

I always wondered how a whole nation could be responsible for atrocities against other men and not be held accountable. I find that remarkable. But what I find even more remarkable is that people who consider themselves superior in every aspect of life can ignore even the most basic aspects of science.

It is sad to see that in our own country the pursuit of fact has become so mundane and ultimately negotiable. Even worse is that a healthy respect for life and our planet has become none existent.

Oh, we know all about Marc Morano and his incredible PR skills. One thing's for sure: the likes of Marc (and his former boss, Senator Inhofe) do not represent the science honestly, and should save their work for when they are outside of the public sector (which is where he is now...still waiting on Inhofe's retirement).

The primary data provider for you global warming activists wingnuts has been caught and admitted to hiding, forging, and skewing data, which has rendered the past two decades of global climate information unusable, and you have the audacity to cry about a Senator's aide or honesty in science?

Surely, you jest.
05:45 PM on 03/02/2010
There is much better unbiased literature to read rather than a GOP paper funded by the oil and coal industries mixing weather data with the studies on rising CO2 levels.

Suggest you read Plan B by Lester Brown as a starter. It uses global data and information from many nations and is not published for a US political agenda such as your link.

I have snorkled over miles of dead reef. I see previously shy animals in my urban back yard. The highway I commute on is borderd by invasive inch a day vines, kudzu and purple thrush. I have seen hundred year old cactus shriviled by lack of rain. I repeat, miles of cactus that only need about 1 inch of rain every 5 years, dying from lack of rain. That my friends is climate change. I have seen hundreds of acres of hard wood forest denuded by Asian catapillars. We are not very good stewards of the only planet in our solar system that can support complex life. The fossil record tells us than when eco systems collapse, few are spared. It's called extinction, and it aint pretty. Just saying...........

Your observations are not ignored by everyone here. Just because some people are not capable of thinking at even a modest level doesn't mean you should waste your time on them.

If people can base every aspect of their life on myth, believe the unbelievable knowing the facts, and never appreciate what is real and true, let it go. They will never understand and unfortunately they will continue to be because nature makes it so. In simple terms if animals can survive, there is nothing to stop these mental midgets from existing either.

Remember the world was flat to many ignorant people for centuries.
