Mo'Nique Talks About Her Open Marriage, Hairy Legs

In Barbara Walter's annual Oscar Special, nominee Mo'Nique revealed her open marriage with husband Sidney Hicks isn't quite so open. "Let me say this," she said. "I have not had sex outside my marriage with Sidney."

But the same might not be true for him, NY Daily News reports. "Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me?" the 'Precious' star asked. "Yes. That's not a deal-breaker. That's not something that would make us say, 'Pack your things and let's end the marriage.'"

Actually I'm NOT a fan of Mo' Nique...I'm glad that she's gotten the "PROPS" she deserves without the politics.

No, Monique is not a shame to me. She has chosen to live her life like she wants. I don't see her strung out in Hollywood. She's married to her husband, not me. The only thing I take her to task for is always writing books that lash out at skinny people. Full figured is one thing but being healthy with it is another.

If that's what they choose to do in their marriage, so be it. People who have these types of marriages are not usually monagamous people in the first place. She went into the marriage knowing that and has agreed.

As for her hairy legs, there are many black women who do not shave their legs. I had a boss whose hairy legs could be seen thru her pantyhose. Many don't have any hair on their legs either so I don't think it's a grooming habit that's taught. As long as my legs don't look like my husband's, I don't care.

OMFG!!! Some people are so judgmental. I don't care one way or the other what type of marriage Mo'Nique has, it doesn't affect me in any way.

I read so many comments about Mo's self-esteem, but could it possibly be that the ones who are making the harshest and most foul comments are really the ones with the low self-esteem. You know, tearing someone down, in order to feel good about your self?

No. That is what you are saying, not what Monique said. You may want to review her words, and leave your bias behind while doing so.

She said it isn't a deal breaker. She didn't say she wouldn't have sex outside of marriage, just that she hasn't at this point. It isn't "cheating" if you are being honest and it is agreed upon. You don't bring home diseases or babies if you are safe, honest, and go about your personal business in a mature fashion, not the way it is most often done which is behind a spouse's back with the excitement of doing something forbidden and naughty makes people take ridiculous risks.

That might sound sensible but reality often shows otherwise. The partner not indulging in these relationships doesn't always have protected sex with the one who is going outside of the relationship, because there is that bond, that level of comfort and "commitment" between the primary couple. The tragedy then, in a situation, is the partner who is faithful is opening themselves up to things they really have no control over. They may become part of an extensive sexual network quite literally doted with all sorts of landmines. Even the person having extraneous relationships can't always say who their liasons are sleeping with. Knowingly putting your life at risk in that way is really sad. People need to value their health and lives more.
