Palin At Oscar Gift Suite: LAT Updates Story

Palin Oscar Gift Suite
Sarah Palin and her 'grabby' entourage were 'like locusts' according to witnesses at an Oscar gift suite.

UPDATE: The Los Angeles Times updated its original item and debunked several online reports about Sarah Palin's behavior at the Oscar gifting suite:

As in, oh no, Palin and company didn't do all those "grabby 'n' whiny" things that were reported by an entertainment gossip site Wednesday evening and spread like wildfire online Thursday and into Friday.

"The stories currently circulating about Governor Palin's attendance at our event are total fabrications," partner Melissa Lemer said in a statement from Silver Spoon (read it here). [Updated at 11:11 a.m.: Lemer has confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that she issued the statement.]

---------------------------------

EARLIER: Sarah Palin aligns her public image with the heartland, but it appears the former Alaska Governor has gone Hollywood. And when she leaves, she may be taking some of it with her.

On top of an appearance on the Tonight Show and rumors that she's shopping around a TV show with reality producer Mark Burnett, Palin and her entourage were seen partaking in one of celebrity's lushest rituals -- the Oscar gifting suite.

While the group was loading up on freebies, the Los Angeles Times reported that, "Palin's middle child, Willow, got her hair styled, receiving a blowout from Erick Orellana of the Chris McMillan Salon (Jennifer Aniston's longtime hairstylist)."

The Times also indicated that Palin was supposed to donate $1,700 along with all of her gift items to the Red Cross, which is currently helping with relief efforts in Haiti and Chile.

But E! Online insists, "we can assure you she did not give up any of her swag." They quote an unnamed vendor who claims that upwards of 20 people from the Palin camp swarmed the event. "They were like locusts," he told the entertainment news outlet.

According to AOL's Pop Eater, publicist Ben Russo of EMC/Bowery said, "she kind of cleaned the place out." They list out a number of her swag-grabs, including United Hair Care products, jewels from Pascal Mouawad, Skagen watches and a whopping 40 pairs of AIAIAI earphones.

It didn't stop there. HollywoodLife.com reports that she also picked up a blue Kenya robe from designer Jenna Leigh, facewash and a pair of foam Bandal sandals.

Or, in common-sense language, Palin and her handlers, "practically cleaned out the suite."

Another unnamed source, from HollywoodLife.com, says that the former Vice Presidential candidate was intent on spreading all that wealth around her own circle. "She insisted every person in her huge entourage get something, and there were assistants, nannies, security - insanity!" The same source also said that security swept the venue and would not allow photos, which are often expected by companies to use as promotion in exchange for the free products.

The Palins have all "gone Hollywood", God bless 'em.

It's a lot more fun and a lot more bling than Washington.

It looks like she borrowed one of her mom's bumpits in that photo. She looks better with her hair hanging down and parted. I also think that the second eldest daughter, the one who recently got into trouble, is the much better looking of the two teens. All of the Palins look best in Alaska.

Why rehash the old lies, after you have published a retraction of them? Palin Derangement Syndrome?

Did Sarah Palin donate wine and personalized stationery to relief efforts?

Turns out Palin wasn't just interested in clothes and beauty products during her swag spree, but also asked that a box of Bota Box Wine be sent to her home in Alaska.

A source at the suite tells us Palin did not sample the wine there, but a member of her entourage did try the Pinot. When asked if she would like to take a box for later, our suite source says Palin asked them to ship it to her home because she couldn't take the liquid on the plane.

And Palin didn't stop with wine—how could she when there were far more freebies for her to snatch up? Palin and her daughters Willow and Piper also picked up some personalized stationery from the Card Store.

"Sarah was decisive about making her card choice. She even spelled out her name for me as if I didn't know there was an H at the end," Khoo explains. "Lots of celebrities gave P.O. boxes or their publicist's office address, but the Palins gave their home address."

We've repeatedly requested a comment on all the freebies she received, but a rep for Palin declined. Palin's rep also refused to confirm, deny or provide proof that Palin donated more than $1,700 to the Red Cross in connection to her suite appearance.

Fawkes ~

The "stories" about SP grabbing armfuls of swag are just that: stories.

Ted Casablanca of E! Online, to whom you link, is a liar. I guess it's just easier to make things up than tell the truth ~ or not write anything at all.

Read my link and learn the truth:

What retraction? And I agree, Palin is deranged.

The truth finally comes out! (many days later). I've gotten to the point where I don't believe any of this stuff anymore whether it's aimed at Republicans or Democrats. Our media is turning into British tabloids.

According to MSNBC the Palins only attended "family friendly" or "charity-related" events.

That would be Palin Family-Friendly, where Charity winds up at home.

pretty soon, she will proclaim she is a virgin, it's that conservative revisionism.

Ummmm let's get this straight... It seems some of her worshippers already do consider Sarah a virgin... absolutely, since she is a perfect form of womanhood, pure morals, ad infinitum.. She claims of conversations with God, and to her followers, apparently, He knocked her up 5 times, and the hypen still remains..
It also seems that Faux Fox is paying for her "entourage".. therefore she is now the right winger princess of ignorance and stupidity..
She is writing another book.... who is the secret author... Glennda or shehannity? No author could write so fast... the only time she has to take a few notes, is during her 5 min. daily dump...

She is planning to get around the need to write fast by composing her book from "readings" that have inspired her. Since we know she does not read, I am sure she was never inspired by any printed word. What really makes me extremely angry is that she apparently sees no problem in violating copyright laws and stealing intellectual property.

Palin's first book was a revenge thing and some people in the campaign say much of it was fiction.
She was very upset with the Katy Couric question about what she read. (makes no sense, I know) This second book is a pushback against that interview and anyone who has said she was less than intelligent.
In true barracuda fashion, she doesn't let any thing go, she has to strike back.

Harper Collins will get permission to reprint.
I predicted Palin would do a "piggyback book". She's lazy.
I predict the third book will be religious: Bible Verses About Me.

Whether "her" so-called books or the Oscar Gift Suite: It is always:
"All About Sarah."
09:30 PM on 03/06/2010
Well then, I guess that means the vendors' publicity photos of Palin & Co. accepting the gifts will soon be published.

Right?

You just can't give up that dream can you. I mean do they post pictures of every single person who goes to these stupid things?
I guess the fact she gave the stuff up to be auctioned to help people suffering in Haiti and donated $1700.00 to the red cross means nothing. You just want pictures of her it sounds like an unhealthy obsession with her to me.

IF she donated this stuff. There needs to be follow-up to see if the Red Cross or any other charity does in fact receiving the money.

Whoever wrote the Pseudo-Retraction claimed there were photos taken. We will see if any are posted or released. That retraction also only claimed Palin signed a pledge. The story in the LA Times quotes the rep from Perry Ellis listing her swag that Palin Left With. As in, not donated back. I have no doubt that much of her swag has now been donated, but it was not done on that day or at the event. Whoever wrote the retraction also kept referring to Palin by her unearned honorific, which only her rabid devoted die-hard fans are known to do. If the co-owner of Silver Spoon really wrote that, then we know why.

Not any less than C4Palin which is the only site that claims the story is a fabrication of her grifting at the swag tents.

I looked way back in the posts to find a link posted by Manata, who wanted to show us the outfit worn by "Granny Grifter" for her pillage of the Gifting Suite. I think it is worth an encore. This is the outfit shown in the very few photos available of that rampage. Can you all say, "2dollaho?"

There's justice in the world. Palin's fame came too late. She's looking pretty old in that pic and you know that bugs the heck out of her.

And what a ugly outfit to be wearing at her age. If I saw her as a nobody in a parking lot I'd be thinking how this is a woman who can't accept her age.

But then again, Palin has always dressed like she just got off work from a 9 to 5 legal secretary job.
01:13 PM on 03/11/2010
She should look so good as a legal secretary...
