University of Texas-Austin
University of Texas-Austin officials recommended a 5.4 percent tuition increase for the 2010-2011 school year, bringing tuition from an average of $8,936 to $9,418. They also want to implement a $65-per-semester student activities fee. State Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth (above), said she was "very disappointed" by it given the financial struggles facing middle-class families.
