Today is Chicago's 173rd birthday--and if we do say so ourselves, the city is looking pretty good. Take away the budget shortfalls and corruption, push that pile of parking tickets off your desk and you are left with a truly remarkable city.
As Nelson Algren wrote in 1951's "Chicago: City On The Make," once you love this city, you'll never love another: "Like loving a woman with a broken nose, you may well find lovelier lovelies. But never a lovely so real."
When you get to the steep age of 173, a few compliments don't hurt, so we rounded up the top ten things we love about Chicago. Feel free to share yours.
