Did anyone else see Project Runway this week? One of the looks, judged as one of the worst that week, was a barely-there bikini made from hardware store washers and hot pink string. The last picture looks oddly like that, but in a much better put-together way. Not judging, I just find it interesting how a similar construction aesthetic showed up in both designs.

That's what I thought when I saw the outfit too! It is similar to the project runway one, but more put together. Either way I think they are both great!

so fake looking

I like those, at least the idea. They redesign head adornment, Western, high-fashion style.

Humanity has always been about adorning the body. Always thought traditional cultures all over the world (various African and Indian tribes, for example) wore pretty crazy (and often very beautiful) stuff.

The designer got the attention s/he wanted with these crazy wigs. Do you think this collection would have made the HP without it?

I call it crazy like a fox!

A woman of substance.

Look like they'd impair hearing since they obviously are like helmets.

I appreciate the creativity. I think many times people miss what is being shown. Many times it is not the outfits that are what is being put out there but the materials used to put the runway show together. For instance, that last photo with the top of baubles is probably saying that fashion this season will include a lot of embelishments. The wigs are simply adornments, not meant to be ACTUAL wigs to wear

Absolutely wonderful, very creative. My daughters would have loved a couple of these wigs when they were teenagers. How fun!

It's the fetish of the Japanese school girl- and the manga/anime characters they are fascinated with. It bleeds into much of Asian design and pop culture, and fashion people know that's where the money is going to come from. Not the US or Europe anymore.
