Seinfeld Does Stand-Up On Letterman, Mocks Our Rude Culture (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/04/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:45 PM ET

We're pretty grateful for "The Marriage Ref." Whether or not the show is any good is besides the point. But simply by existing, we've been treated to talk show appearances by its creator, Jerry Seinfeld. And despite the episodes of "Seinfeld" that are rerun every half hour, we'll take all the Sein we can get.

The comic did a set on "The Late Show," last night, rattling off jokes on pop tarts, annoying friends, and the rude culture we live in. On being annoyed by blackberry users blatantly being distracted during a conversation: "Could I just pick up a magazine and hold it front of your face and read it while you're talking?"

Don't people just laugh at a comedy routine anymore? I found the clapping at every comment he made very distracting.

They clapped because their Blackberry told them to :)

It is "Move on Up" by Curtis Mayfield if I'm not mistaken. I'm guessing it is from the late 70s maybe???

It's also been sampled by Kanye West. Which is likely where you heard it.

THIS GUY IS A BILLIONAIRE!!!!!!!

ISN'T THAT ENOUGH MONEY, SEINFELD??? GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE. YOU ARE RICH ENOUGH AND WE ARE TIRED OF YOUR ROUTINE.

Speak for yourself. He has been a unique and gifted comedian for many years. The enjoyment he has given to millions over the years has been justly rewarded. IMHO he hasn't lost the touch.

Absolutely! I all I could do through that whole fresh and new schtick was laugh out loud!!! Ah, Jerry, amazing!! And all of it delivered without the "APPLAUSE" light flashing on and off one single time! WOW!!

How do people like you get 43 fans? Lastly, replace "we" with "I"

Very obviously a laugh track here. Too phoney for words.

Nice plug for Pop-Tarts and Blackberries. I guess this is the commercial future of comedy. I didn't like Stephen's Doritos either.

His comedy relies on real life. How would generic names sound in this routine? Pretty silly, don't you think? Find something else to hate on.

Find another definition of hate. My life isn't a commercial.

Brian Regan has a comedy routine spoofing Pop-Tarts too! I don't understand the fascination with that food...even if it's quick!

I think we love Jerry because he's so familiar but his material here was pretty good, not great. Nothing I haven't heard said or done before.

He's still an excellent stand-up but I think his industry influence and power are all gone. The collapse of The Marriage Ref ratings proves it. Ten years ago this show probably would have been a hit.

jill: gee, could mankabros. be a competitor to the network that telecasts the marriage ref???????????? so you think so. that's nice. at least you phrased that as personal opinion. saw marriage ref. liked marraige ref. will continue to watch marraige ref. your conjectures are, thus far, baseless.

I like Jerry because he takes everyday situations and brings them to the surface...I am a classic Iphone person just as he describes and I am always trying to get people to get one. It is a type of humor that you just have to get...I really like Jerry's stand up it makes un of the crazy stuff we do everyday.

Except 95% of comedians do that now. They all talk about dating, or little life things. So while he may have been a pioneer for it, it's kind of gotten...stale.

funny! so true about iphone and blackberry users.

theyre so annoying! I remember a time when you could be in a room and all the people in that room weren't 'texting'.

those were the days, we didnt know how good we had it
