Darcy Pohland Dead: Minneapolis Reporter Dies At 48

Darcy Pohland died last night at 48 years old, shocking the Minneapolis community she served in as a local reporter for WCCO-TV.

WCCO reports that Pohland had apparently died in her sleep overnight and the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Pohland was paralyzed after an accident in 1983 and had been confined to a wheelchair, but continued to pursue her interest in journalism nonetheless, the AP reports.

She had been with WCCO-TV for 20 years, per her site bio, and she was one of the few quadriplegic reporters nationwide.

Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist "C.J." wrote in reaction, "Darcy Pohland was one of the sweetest souls I ever met, and I never saw her rolling without a smile, although I'm sure she had tough days."
