Best Actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe opted for a blue, short-sleeved Marchesa gown, decorated with diamond flowers. She wore her hair half-up, half-down and said, "If fashion was porn, this dress is the money shot."

She looks like a diabetic coma waiting to happen, Marchesa or no Marchesa. There's not much any designer can do to make stunning a figure who's only visually stunning quality is the shear volume of her form. Sorry, but no designer is that talented. Every dress designer works from the base of a HEALTHY feminine form, and the days of using the work 'healthy' as a euphemism for 'fat' are long over.

Grimace....
...not the facial expression (which is also applicable here), but the McDonald's character. That is all.

The dress is going in the right direction with regards to slimming a big girl but the silver leaves were a huge mistake. It cheapened the dress.

Keep it simple.

Oh come on....she looked hideous. if people keep complimenting her, she will think she looks fantastic. feeling good about yourself is wonderful.....but she looks like she is going to burst. Someone should counsel her regarding her weight instead of using her as a cash cow - poor choice of words, but c'est vrai

I'm sorry, but that dress was SO matronly for such a young girl. Especially the leaves.

Very flattering, except for the sleeves.

I've got German-peasant, bread-kneading upper arms myself, so I sympathize.

I loved her dress. It was so flattering and the color was great with her skintone. Her hair was also nicely styled, unlike some of those ladies who really needed a date with a brush. Sarah Jessica Parker, I'm looking at you.

Comparing her Oscar dress to a porn "money shot"? Class all the way!

I don't get the "Porn" comment. Kind of crude by HP.

The dress cinches her waist and is a good color on her. Her hair was styled well for the dress. She looks good for a big girl. Good stylist for sure. I love her positive attitude. I just wished she would get more fit, she looks like she could be on the verge of diabetis or other excessive weight issues.

I still love her no matter how big, but health is important. We want her around for a while and in good health. She has a lot to give.

Yes, it was crude, but Gabourney was actually the one who said. HP only reported it.

How much did the dress cost? Most are hard on other well dressed women at movie award shows; why did the tone change for this one? It feels a bit insulting.

Ms. Sidibe looks gorgeous in her blue dress. She has much to offer as an acting talent and I hope that she has a long and prosperous career in film. Also, Kudos to Marchesa for dressing Ms. Sidibe so beautifully. I follow the design world rather closely so I know that several designers would be too snooty to dress a woman over a size 10, even an up and comer like Gabourey. So good for Marchesa for not letting a woman's size blind them to her fabulous talent.

I love that she is confident. I think she looked very pretty. So many people be it big or small can't find it in themselves to love themselves regardless of their weight or "flaws". She has the spirit so many of us wish we had.

Right On. I love her spirit, her joy is infectious. She doesn't apologize for who she is... not for one moment--at that's a beautiful, wonderful thing to behold.

The dress should have covered more of her upper arms. Those arms were a bit much to look at.

Not saying anything about her weight. It's her business.

I hate this dress on her.

I think this dress looked great on her. It's not hard to dress an overweight woman and make her look fabulous - my hat is off to Marchesa!

This young woman wore some great dresses for her size and weight. My problem with her, is that she was overwhelmed by the experience and acted a bit silly to often for me. She began to think silly quips were de riguer and I thought it made her sound like a smart aleck far too often. Glad she didn't win. I am not a supporter of those who win an Oscar based on one performance that is also the first acting performance.

Do you prefer when someone wins an Oscar based not on the specific performance for which they are nominated, but on their entire career? That has happened plenty of times in Oscar history. If a person's first role is Oscar worthy, why shouldn't she win ?
And if Gabby is overwhelmed by t he Oscar experience, so what?! It's her first time at The Oscars . She has plenty of time to become jaded enough for your satisfaction. I would much rather have seen Gabby win than Sandra Bullock, but I am sure she'll have plenty of opportunities to do so in the future.

I thought all Oscars were based on one performance? And does it really matter if you starred in one movie or 10, it's about that one performance in that movie. Just like in sports, whoever brings it on game day wins.
