Betty White WILL Appear on 'Saturday Night Live'

Betty White fans, your prayers have been answered. The former Golden Girl will appear on Saturday Night Live in the near future, she confirmed to PEOPLE at Elton John's annual Oscars viewing party on Sunday night.

Fans have been clamoring for White, 88, to do SNL -- an idea she called "ridiculous" just a few weeks ago -- ever since her comic turn in a Snickers ad during the Super Bowl. One Facebook page devoted to the cause has attracted half a million fans.

I'm not hating but where did this Betty White resurgence come from. I know she's been lingering around ever since Golden Girls but recently she's blown up and I can't understand why. She's a real world internet meme.

One of my local TV stations airs the Mary Tyler Moore Show Monday through Friday at night. Such a treat! Betty White as Sue Ann Nivens is pure comic gold!

Let me get this straight: You object to the idea of a foul-mouthed older woman being considered automatically funny merely because she's vulgar (I agree), which implies a certain dissatisfaction with the trashing-down of the culture (I agree), and then you want Adam _Lambert_ on the show?
