**UPDATED** An earlier version of this story reported that that Ithaca College was offering incentives to admitted students this year. The program ended last year.
Oops! Ithaca College over-enrolled its freshman class for fall 2009 by nearly 20 percent and, as a result, the school offered up to $10,000 to each admitted student to defer enrollment for a year. It's also provided $2,000 incentives to upperclassmen to move off campus, and quickly built a new dorm -- constructed in six weeks -- for those who wanted to stay within the confines of school grounds. Price tag for the hastily erected building? $2.5 million.
