Neil Gaiman And His Dark World (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/09/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:45 PM ET

Neil Gaiman let viewers and fans into his world of dark stories and creepy creativity in a video interview on CBS. The "Coraline" author spoke about his influences and what it's like to be an author with a huge cult following, and gave viewers a tour of his home, full of dolls -- "Coraline" figures, mostly -- and books -- all of the books he's ever read and written.

Gaiman quoted Ogden Nash when asked why he likes to write about monsters so much:

Where there's a monster, there's a miracle.

"It's the miraculous," he said, that draws him to his creepy tales.

Neil Gaiman is easily the best storyteller of this generation.

Agreed. And not everything he writes is dark. The Day I Swapped my Dad for Two Goldfish is lighthearted fun.
